An observantZelda: Tears of the Kingdomplayer posts a slideshow showcasing how the children in Hyrule have changed since their first appearances inBreath of the Wild. Flipping through the slideshow reveals that some kids appear to have aged while others have not, adding to the mystery of how much time has passed betweenThe Legend of Zelda: Breath of the WildandThe Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.

Fans ofThe Legend of Zeldafranchise have always needed help nailing down the timeline of the series and how much time has passed between each game. This includes the newest installment of the series, where fans are still debatinghow many years have passed betweenBreath of the WildandTears of the Kingdom. The consensus online is that about five to six years have passed, with some fans thinking it’s closer to ten years, while others think it could be less than five. One way of gathering proof is to look at how the NPCs have aged between the two games. The downside to this tactic is that it’s unclear how certain races, such as the Rito or the Zora, age compared to humans.

The most comparable race to humans inThe Legend of Zeldaare the Hylians, whose only major difference are their pointy ears. Reddit user Makeitspin posted a slideshow revealing how much the Hylian kids have grown between the twoZeldagames. These images were captured at each majorvillage Link can travel to across Hyrule, including Kakariko, Hateno, and Tarrey Town.

Most of the images in the slideshow look like how fans may expect, with the majority of the kids showcasing a growth spurt between both games. Kids like Karin, Aster, Azu, Hunnie, and Zuta all appear to have aged at least five to six years. However, there are fourHylian kids inTears of the Kingdomthat appear to not have aged at all: Narah, Teebo, Nebb, and Cottla. The strangest example is Nebb, who looks like he may have gotten younger between the two games.

The one example in the slideshow that seems out of place when comparing the kids fromBreath of the WildandTears of the Kingdomis Purah. Purah is a special case when it comes to this subject, as she’s actually over 100 years old and turned herself into a child after a failed experiment. InTears of the Kingdom, Purah performed another experiment to age herself up, which is explained in a diary entry that can be found in the game.
