A new update toYu-Gi-Oh! Master Duelhas officially added the first new Secret Pack since the game’s launch, putting some of the game’s most powerful cards into a permanent pack. The official simulator for Konami’s massively popular card game has featured plenty of strong cards added since its January launch. Some, likethe “Swordsoul” cards, have shifted the game’s meta with dominant new strategies taking over the game. Now, Konami has added a new way for players to get their hands on some of the most important, meta-relevant cards in the game.WhileYu-Gi-Oh! Master Duelhas frequently introduced new cards to the online TCG, past additions have come in the form of “Selection Packs.” These limited-time packs feature a small selection of new cards to be added into the game, with the packs being available for a few months after their release. However, until now, new cards added after the game’s launch have only been available from the “Master Pack” featuring every card in the game or by crafting after their Selection Pack goes away. Master Duelofficially unveiled its newest Secret Pack on Tuesday with the release of “Alba Abyss” in the game’s shop. The pack features a variety of powerful cards focused around “Fallen of Albaz” and including staples like “Mirrorjade the Iceblade Dragon” and “Branded Fusion.” The permanent Secret Pack has also introduced a small collection of new cards to the game with its release, includinga new Fusion Monsterin “Alba Lenatus the Abyss Dragon” Trap card with “Branded Banishment” among others.
The release of Alba Abyss marks the first time a new Secret Pack has been introduced toMaster Duel, with previous featured new cards becoming significantly more difficult to acquire after their Selection Pack. Meta-shaping archetypes like “Floowandereeze” and the previously mentioned “Swordsoul” have yet to be featured in a new Secret Pack after their initial release. Alba Abyss will be fully available to all players until December 26th, after whichMaster Duelplayers can unlock the Secret Packby crafting an SR or UR featured in the set.
Alba Abyss makes a wealth of strong cards available to more players as Konami has increasingly pushedMaster Duel’s competitive aspect in recent months. Konami has previously featured the “Duelist Cup” as a more competitive PvP event, featuring ranking tiers and a full leaderboard, rumored to return next month. The European branch ofYu-Gi-Oh!also announced theYu-Gi-Oh! Master DuelChallenger Cupas a competitive tournament series earlier this week. With the release of Alba Abyss,Master Duelfans can hope more Secret Packs are coming soon.
