World of Warcraftis doubling the reputation alt characters gain with the four major factions inDragonflight. This new change will make it even easier forWorld of Warcraftplayers to unlock endgame items on their secondary characters.
In arecent build of theDragonflightbeta, players discovered new account-wide achievements that help players increase their Renown faster on alts. Once players reach certain Renown milestones with each faction, reputation gains will be increased for alts below those thresholds with the individual factions.

Word of a Worthy Ally 1, unlocked at Renown level 10 for each faction, gives alt characters twice as much reputation with that faction as long as their Renown level is lower than 10. Word of a Worthy Ally 2, unlocked at Renown level 20, further increases this bonus, giving double reputation if below rank 20, and three times as much if below level 10. These account-wide bonuses are unlocked as soon as a player reaches these Renown levels witheach of the four major factions inDragonflight.
ManyRenown rewards inDragonflightare account-wide unlocks, such as cosmetic gear, abilities, and faction bonuses like the Dragonscale Expedition waygates. Though players will not need to raise their Renown on alts to benefit from these unlocks, they will to access other bonuses, including profession patterns and powerful gear. With the Word of a Worthy Ally reputation boost, players will be able to easily acquire these benefits on their alt characters with significantly less work.
Many players are really excitedWorld of Warcraftis making this change to reputations inDragonflight. In general,World of Warcraftis an MMO that encourages alts–indeed, players can’t even access all parts of the game on a single character. Because of this, catch-up mechanics that help make the process of gearing up and raising alts less of a grind are always popular among players. This change is another big step towards makingWorld of Warcrafteven more alt-friendly.
Grinding up reputation inWorld of Warcrafthas always been one of the longest and least-popular grinds in the game, so few players will object to this change. However, many players don’t think it is enough. They would love to see similar reputation catch-up mechanics brought to the dozens of other reputations across the game’s long history, or better yet, for all reputations to become account-wide. While neither of those changes seems likely,World of Warcraftwill hopefully continue adding similar innovationsto make the venerable MMORPG even better.
