Destiny 2’s Operation: Seraph’s Shield has been widely approved by the community, many of whom have praised it over the newly released dungeon, Spire of the Watcher. One of the many reasons thatDestiny 2fans have enjoyed Operation: Seraph’s Shield is its resemblance to past secrets, such as last year’s Presage quest, which saw players obtain the Dead Man’s Tale Exotic Scour Rifle. After the repetitive nature of past Seasonal content, this new quest has been a long time coming.
Operation: Seraph’s Shield is closely tied to this Season of the Seraph’s More Than a Weapon quest, in which players will have to progress through the first several weeks to gain access to the Exotic quest. Once accomplished, The Hidden Shape quest will open once Guardians listen toElsie Bray’s messageat the holoprojector in the H.E.L.M., situated across from the Exo Frame. The first step of the mission will be to complete Operation: Seraph’s Shield on Normal difficulty to proceed.

Past Secrets in Destiny 2
Destiny 2is known for providing its fans with intricate quests with gorgeous settings, and Operation: Seraph’s Shield is no different. While many players have taken in the stunning views aboard theClovis Bray Orbital Stationand solved the complex puzzles to stop House Salvation from stealing critical Intel, long-time fans have noted how the mission hearkens back to such secret quests as Presage from last year.
Presage was featured duringDestiny 2’s Season of the Chosen, where Guardians embarked on a mysterious journey through a sem-abandoned Cabal spaceship. While the Exotic Scout Rife Dead Man’s Tale waited at the end of the mission, players needed to discover 15Presage clues to unlockthe Ghost they’d been searching for, Gilgamesh, while further unlocking the secrets of the Glykon.

While the Exotic quest for Dead Man’s Tale inDestiny 2was shorter than most Exotic quests, including Operation: Seraph’s Shield, getting the quest underway was not the most straightforward action unless players knew where to look. Presage itself did take some time to complete, reminiscent of this Season’s mission, where both involved solving intricate puzzles while facing off against hordes of challenging enemies.
Another pastDestiny 2secret came from the Exotic Ruinous Effigy, in which Juan Pablo Uribe, a senior sound developer at Bungie, left a parting gift.Ruinous Effigy is an Exotic Trace Riflereleased during the 2020’s Shadowkeep campaign, coming with its Exotic quest line - though it now can be obtained from the Monument to Lost Lights. The gift, a true thank you to fans, featured a musical number motif from a pastDestinyrelease, with a one-in-ten chance to play whenever the Exotic Trace Rifle fired its shots.
Why Operation: Seraph’s Shield Was a Long Time Coming
While Operation: Seraph’s Shield shares Presage’s objectives with complex puzzles to solve, the mechanics for Seraph’s Shield closely resembled those found in the famousDeep Stone Crypt Raid, which also shared similar aesthetic tastes. Overall, fans have approved of this mission and The Hidden Shape because these two quests tie nicely into the Seasonal story and offer a break from the repetitive nature of the last few Seasons.
Season of Plunder saw the most repetitive aspects of activities, with players needing to constantly play Ketchcrash, Expeditions, and Pirate Hideouts to advance the story. With thisSeason’s More Than a Weapon, The Hidden Shape, and Operation: Seraph’s Shield, it feels as if a breath of fresh air has been given to story content, revitalizing the past fatigue and increasing the community with old and new fans alike.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Stadia, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
