Assassin’s Creed Valhalla’s Shared History DLC released in November 2022as a free minor story expansion to the game that ties smartly into the upcomingAssassin’s Creed Mirage. The DLC seesValhalla’s beloved protagonist Eivor come into contact with a mysterious Hidden Ones elite called Roshan. Shared History sees the two proficient fighters briefly unite against a common enemy, with Roshan giving subtle hints to the events of her troubled past.
It is known that Roshan is going to be one ofthe integral characters inAssassin’s Creed Mirage, being the mentor of the upcoming game’s main character Basim Ibn Ishaq. From the trailers forMirage, it seems that Roshan recruited a young Basim from the streets of Baghdad after recognizing his potential, working closely with him during his induction to the Hidden Ones. Basim would eventually rise to the rank of Master under Roshan’s tutelage, owing a lot of his skills to the figure.
Of course, through the story events ofValhalla, players know that Basim’s allegiance to the Hidden Ones became clouded by hisnature as a sage for the Isu God, Loki. As Loki’s ambitions overshadowed Basim’s, he abandoned the tenets of living to protect the Hidden Ones, instead traveling the world in search of Eivor to enact vengeance. It is expected thatMiragewill explore this destructive transitional period in Basim’s life in detail, and the Shared History DLC offers some great early context as to the impact this had on others.
As Basim’s mentor and friend, Roshan clearly harbors a lot of regret overhow his Hidden Ones career panned out. Roshan would have faced a lot of backlash within the organization for Basim’s betrayal of the group, and this is something that is hinted at in Shared History. In the DLC, players get a grounded glimpse at Roshan in her older age, seemingly being a reserved figure due to the reputational backlash Basim caused her.
While it is not known if Roshan was fully shunned from the Hidden Ones,Miragewill provide a lot more insight that is only supplemented by her Shared History appearance.
