After nearly three decades, FIFA and EA Sports have parted ways. That means that following the release ofFIFA 23, all titles from EA Sports will compete against futureFIFAtitles. While EA Sports already has a framework to work with, FIFA will be looking toward other publishers to work on future titles. ForFIFAgames to successfully compete againstEA Sports FC, however, it will need to include new game modes and improve existing ones to attract new fans.
FIFA 22has been criticized for having game modes that are either too repetitive or do not have any significant changes when compared to older titles in the series. As a result, many fans of the game are hoping that onceFIFA starts releasing its own games with a new publisher, it will focus on improving these game modes and adding in modes that players have never played before. From the World Cup to Street Soccer, there are many game modes that could elevate futureFIFAtitles to become real competitors of EA Sports and shake up the soccer genre.

FIFA World Cup
The FIFA World Cupis consistently the most-watched sporting event in the world with over a billion people tuning in to watch the final every four years. Since FIFA will always own the rights to the World Cup, including a game mode where fans can play through the tournament, both online and offline, would be a great addition to the future games. This game mode will not be available through EA Sports games and its success could prove to be one of the main factors that attract new fans to futureFIFAtitles.
A World Cup game mode could easily be included in the Career Mode options by giving fans the choice to pick a national team to manage. In the real world, managers are not allowed to coach both national teams and a club-level team, and adding this option to Career Mode would be a great way to not only improve the immersion of the game but also give fans a new experience as they will need to scout players and pick the best team for each international tournament. It will also add some variety to the other two Career Mode options as fans can retire their player and work their way from a club-level manager to the head coach of one of the top international teams.

Story Mode
Back inFIFA 17, the game included a story modethat followed the playing career of Alex Hunter, a fictional player that fans would control through the course of a season. While this game mode was not meant to replace Career Mode as the primary offline game mode, it still gave fans something more to do and experience. Including a new story mode to futureFIFAtitles could be what differentiates it fromEA Sports FC, especially since it will be easier for FIFA to get certain star players to cameo in this game mode.

Career Mode
Career Mode has been the main offline game mode forFIFAtitles since its initial launch nearly three decades ago, giving fans the chance to play through multiple seasons as either a manager of any club or a player. Over the years, however,Career Mode has taken a back seatas EA Sports decided to focus more of its attention on the online game modes. Fans have heavily criticized this as the game mode was rarely improved and did not offer any meaningful changes and features to elevate the experience.
FIFA Street
Out of all the games released inthe FIFA-EA Sports era, the originalFIFA Streetrun remains a fan favorite and is something that fans will love to see in futureFIFAtitles. The arcade-style gameplay diverged from FIFA’s simulation game formula but provided a fun experience as fans strived to complete all the challenges and beat the toughest teams. At the heart of this game is the use of tricks and skill moves to get past opponents and produce some extremely memorable, albeit unrealistic, moments that have not been seen in any otherFIFAtitle.
While FIFA will continue to provide a more realistic experience to its fans, including arcade game modes likeFIFA Streetcan give fans something else to do when they are taking a break from the main online and offline games.VOLTA was meant to meet this demand, but it did not feature a lot of the arcade elements that the originalFIFA Streethad. FIFA has already shown that it is ready to give fans better couch co-op modes and includingFIFA Streetas a game mode will undoubtedly attract many fans to futureFIFAtitles.

FIFA needs to make a lot of changes in its future games to ensure that it stands apart from EA Sports and can also compete against a publisher that has far more experience in this space than any other gaming company in the industry. Since many fans may decide to stay faithful to EA Sports, it is important that FIFA shows it is ready to provide fans with the game they want and is prepared to provide new experiences and game modes. WithFIFA 23being the last title releasing in the FIFA-EA Sports partnership, fans will be looking forward to what comes next from the soccer governing body and who will publish the future titles.
FIFA 23is currently in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S.
