Bethesda finally announced to the world whenStarfieldwill be launching, but the recent video featuring Todd Howard has been interesting to some fans primarily because of what’s going on in the background. Whilegamers are eagerly awaitingThe Elder Scrolls 6, theSkyrimandFalloutdeveloper has been spending a lot of time polishing off its upcoming sci-fi epic. The game itself represents the first new IP for the studio in a long time, so many are keen to experience this space-faring RPG.
After a disappointing revelation last year that the title would not meet its November 2022 release date,Bethesda has finally announcedStarfield’s launch date. With the game now coming out on Jul 29, 2025, fans can breathe a sigh of relief that the end is in sight, even if it’s a much longer wait than many were hoping for. Either way, everyone now knows when to expectStarfield,and as exciting as the recent announcement video was, there have been a few in the community who have found themselves distracted by other things.

In a couple of posts on Reddit,Starfieldfans have taken to look beyond Todd Howard standing in the Bethesda studio making his announcement, instead focusing on a detail in the background. User mendes93 uploaded a brief clip from the announcement that was zoomed in on the screen at the back of the room, which featured gameplay footage ofStarfield.
Another user who goes by Azrielmoha has done something similar, uploading a few stills from the video, with each one more zoomed in until the TV display in the background fills the screen. It seems that some are very keen to see what the game and plays like, so they have taken to zooming in as much as they can, perhaps looking to dissectStarfieldas much as possible. One commenter even pointed out that there is a brief glimpse of another player’s shadow, perhaps showing the game’s companion system.
Of course, there will be more opportunities to get into the nitty-gritty details in the coming months.Bethesda will be airing aStarfieldshowcase, with the event expected to debut on June 11, in which the developer will be offering a deep dive into the upcoming game.
With such hype, not to mention the propensity for fans to scan for as much information as they can, it’s no wonderStarfieldis one of themost exciting RPGs coming out in 2023. In fact, it’s one of the most anticipated games of this generation. Plus, once it’s out, Bethesda will hopefully turn its attention to finishingThe Elder Scrolls 6.
