Simulation games have covered a majority of careers, hobbies, even allowing players to become animals in the famousGoat Simulatorgame. From allowing players to take on a simple farming life to letting them create a whole family of their imagination, simulation games have found a niche for many gamers to enjoy, and there’s lots ofupcoming simulator games likeGardeniafor fans to keep an eye out for, such as one that lets players become an Uber driver.

Urban Ventureis a driving simulation game developed by Polish indie studio Simteract allowing players to become their very own Uber driver in the city of Barcelona. The game promises an authentic taxi driving experience, where the player earns money from completing jobs effectively. Unlike other driving simulation games that place players in a career based around getting from point A to point B, such astheEuro TruckgamesandMud Runners,Urban Venturealso lets players take on a more corporate role once they have earned enough money through taxi driving. “Being a boss will come with challenges,” says developer Simteract, “such as dealing with problematic drivers, company finances, and real estate management. There’s no recipe for succeeding in a start-up.”

Beginning the game is not just a simple taxi simulator though, as Simteract promises to allow players different ways to begin to build funds as a driver. From food deliveries, effectively making the playeran Uber Eats driver, to random passengers wishes for extra funds, there are multiple ways to play. With a free roaming driving mode as well,Urban Ventureallows perhaps for a bit more than just taxi driving, with a bit of freedom that a player can use to bring some form of chaos to the roads if they feel truly done with their taxi driving career. It’s doubtful that players will be able to become a tyrant of the road like they can in theGrand Theft Autoseries for example.

The game also offers a fairly unique setting in the Spanish city of Barcelona.Urban Ventureis “a 1:1 recreation of the famous city of Barcelona,” according to Simteract, featuring a vast playable area and parts of the city entirely recreated for a virtual platform. It seems the city of Barcelona has had some interest from the gaming industry as of late, afterHitmandeveloper IO Interactiveset up a new office in the city.

Urban Ventureis set to release in late 2022 on Steam Early Access, with a full release expected in 2023.
