Though it’s been several years now ofisekai anime as king, the trend does not seem to be slowing down at all. The latest isekai being made into an anime isSaving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirement. On Tuesday, October 18, the anime staff revealed the upcoming anime’s release date along with a first teaser trailer.
Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirementis a light novel series that was already adapted into manga format, and has been published in English by Kodansha USA Publishing. The light novel and manga series have both been published since 2017, and as of August 2022, the light novel has 7 published volumes, and the manga has 10 volumes.

July 26th, 2022, the anime adaptation ofSaving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirementwas announced. Very little was revealed at the time beyond the director and scriptwriter, Hiroshi Tamada and Akihiro Inari respectively, as well as Yuuki Fukuchi designing the characters. Later, Rika Nagae was announced as the voice actress of the protagonist, Mitsuha Yamano. The anime will be produced by Felix Film.
Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirementfollows a girl named Mitsuha who accidentally falls into a medieval-esque fantasy world. Unlike many isekai stories with a similar premise, Mitsuha is uniquely able to travel between that world and her own. She begins totake advantage of her ability, planning an early retirement, which she thinks she will need 80,000 gold to be able to achieve. The story is about the various ways that she earns that gold.
The teaser forSaving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirementgives us our first real look at the upcoming anime. It shows Mitsuha switching back and forth between both worlds, and gives a preview of some of the jobs that she is doing as well as her intense math calculations to come up with the 80,000 gold sum. The trailer is light-hearted and fun, and Mitsuha is not your average teenage boyisekai protagonistwhich helps the anime stand out from others in the genre.
With the anime world so saturated in isekai anime, it’s challenging to make something thatpeople will really rememberfor more than a season.Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirementalready has its long but memorable name on it’s side at least, and that name lets otaku know exactly what kind of plot they are signing up for when they start watching. The light novel and manga have been well-recieved too, but it will take something truly special forSaving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirementto really make an impact.
In addition to the teaser, the staff announced thatSaving 80,000 Gold in Another World for My Retirementwill be part of the winter 2023 anime line-up, and will thus premier in January 2023. It will air on TV Asahi in Japan, and in the “ANiMAZiNG!!!” late-night block on ABC TV.
