Summary
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdomhas been bothcommercially and critically successful, with almost all players calling it a worthy successor toBreath of the Wild. A massive part ofTears of the Kingdomare Zonai devices, which are items of Zonai origin that can be utilized by Link to provide certain benefits or perform certain actions. With the introduction of the Fuse, Ultrahand, and Autobuild Sheikah Slate abilities,Tears of the Kingdomhas emphasized creative and clever use of Zonai devices to achieve what previousBreath of the Wildabilities might have - such as the replacement of remote bombs withTime Bombs.
These Zonai devicesare plentiful and can be found throughout the map in both chests and Zonai Device Deposits, on both land and sky islands. Each player will have specific Zonai devices they use more than others, dependent on their gameplay style and which devices they come across more commonly. With twenty-seven different Zonai devices available, some have certainly flown under the radar, and many haven’t had the chance to see their usefulness in certain situations. While it’s unlikely any Zonai device is truly underrated, some of them have yet to have their moment in the spotlight.

Quick Meals On The Go
Dispenser Locations:
APortable Potmay not sound like much, and many players may have a few in their inventory doing nothing more than gathering dust. But, Portable Pots are one of those items that are wholly useful until suddenly it’s exactly what players need.
Undoubtedly, all players have found themselves straying far from the beaten track inTears of the Kingdomsince the world is soplentiful and fun to explore. In those moments where players find themselves deep in the Faron Grasslands or Hebra Tundra with no stable in sight and all the right ingredients for the perfect meal, a Portable Pot is clutch. Whether gamers have come across a Gleeok they want a buff against or are suddenly in need of some lightning resistance, a Portable Pot can serve its purpose and then disappear with no hassle.

Defensive Zapping And Damage Dealing
Shock Emitters are one of those devices players could live without. Unlike a Fan or Wing, the game doesn’t often demand the use of aShock Emitterto progress or complete a side quest. Despite this, there are a few ways this little zapper can come in handy.
One great way to use a Shock Emitter is tofuse it with Link’s shield, which means that enemies that get too close will be shocked into oblivion. This can be incredibly useful for escaping a low-tier enemy that players don’t have time to fight, and it means players don’t have to waste their weapon durability to do it. Dealing any damage while also defending is incredibly useful, and having a Shock Emitter around can end up being surprisingly helpful.

Keeping Things Upright
The notion of having a whole Zonai device dedicated to keeping things upright might, at first, seem ridiculous. It almost appears to be an arbitrary device that’s only useful in situations designed for its purpose - butTears of the Kingdomis a very clever game and provides players with plenty of scenarios where aStabilizeris key.
A Mini-Ally For Link
Some players may not have made the most of theHoming Cartdevice for a few reasons - one of them likely being that they aren’t that easy to come by. A few players may not have even encountered a Homing Cart until they reached the Mayachideg Shrine in Akkala.
These brilliant little drones will trundle along the floor in search of monsters to which they are immediately hostile. In everyday scenarios, attaching an offensive Zonai Device to a Homing Cart and switching it on essentially gives Link a mini ally to help in combat. It can be great against bigger mobs, and Link can send it in first to deal some damage before following up. Pairing a Homing Cart with aConstruct Headand a decent Emitter weapon gives Link a certified arsenal.

Gaining Height Advantage
A Zonai Spring is likely one of the more commonly utilized Zonai devices, but it still hasn’t quite reached the status of some others. In theory, the Spring achieves a similar effect to aFanor aBalloon, which is to gain height. Players might encounter Springs lyingnear Flux Constructsto give them a height advantage.
Springs can be the best device for launching Link up high quickly and efficiently. They’re very useful against an enemy that is much bigger than Link, or toRockethim out of a tricky mob situation. If Link pulls out his bow while in the air, time will slow down and allow him to shoot a few arrows at an enemy - which can easily be the difference between life and death. Springs are also very useful in the Depths, particularly if players would rather traverse the murky land in the air where there are fewer dangers.

Slowing Down Enemies And Dealing Damage
Like a Shock Emitter, theFrost Emitteris another offensive Zonai Device. It’s brilliantly useful when Fused with a shield or weapon, and will release puffs of offensive ice that will damage enemies. This makes it particularly useful against enemies thatare vulnerable to ice, like Fire-Breath Lizalfos - and could even finish them off in one hit. It may also freeze smaller enemies if the ice stream is held on them for long enough.
On top of its offensive capabilities, a Frost Emitter can be used to freeze water and lava into solid platforms which Link can then walk on. This is useful in a few different side quests, but it is very helpful when players are trying to reach certain Shrines and areas that are surrounded by freezing water or lava.
