Grasshopper Manufacture’sShadows of the Damnedis getting remastered.Shadows of the Damnedwas developed as a collaboration betweenSuda51and Shinji Mikami, blending Mikami’sResident Evil 4-style third-person shooter gameplay with Suda51’s unique sense of humor. Published by EA,Shadows of the Damnedlaunched to mostly positive reviews, but it failed to light up the sales charts in the way EA was likely hoping to see.
For some time, those who signed up for Xbox Game Pass Ultimate or EA Play had another chance to discoverShadows of the Damned, as it was made readily available through those services. Unfortunately,Shadows of the Damnedwas eventually delisted, with the game having been missing from digital storefronts for the last couple of years. The newly announced remaster should giveShadows of the Damnedanother shot at the spotlight.

It will be interesting to see how theShadows of the Damnedremaster fares compared to the original game. It’s possible that the remaster will iron out some of the rough edges that the original had and overall be a superior product. Theoretically, this could in turn result in stronger sales for the game, but that remains to be seen. But if the sales are strong enough, perhapsShadows of the Damnedcould get a sequel.
Suda51 has previously expressed interest in aShadows of the Damnedsequel, but nothing has ever materialized. Now thatGrasshopper Manufacture has the rights to the IP, though, anything is possible. For now, fans can look forward to theShadows of the Damnedremaster.
