One key aspect ofTropico 6is increasing andmaintaining the people’s happiness, which has many different factors. One of these is Liberty. Certain actions the player takes will negatively affect the population’s Liberty happiness, driving it significantly down. The player will have to take action to counteract this result before thepeople begin leaving the island, voting against the current Presidente, or joining protest groups. Here are steps they can take to boost Liberty fast.
Build Newspapers
While many buildings that are critical to the advancement of the island nation can drive down Liberty, the player cannot just close them. Instead, buildingNewspapersis a fast way to counter the negative effects. When the player selects a built Newspaper, it will have a blue circle around it. Every residential building within that blue circle is being positively affected by the Newspaper with an increase in Liberty.
The key here is tobuild a Newspaper in every residential areato ensure that each neighborhood has a boost in Liberty. This will significantly boost the nation’s overall Liberty happiness rating, counteracting the effects of buildings belonging to the government or military. This option works regardless of the era. A Newspaper costs $1,800 and will have a maximum of 4 workers with a high school education.

Build Libraries
Libraries can be built in residential areas to increase Liberty. To use them, they must be researched first. When selected, the Library will give the player the option ofUncensored Portfolio, which should be chosen to increase Liberty. Their influence spreads to the surrounding buildings. The player will not be able to see which buildings are affected by the nearby library.

However, building them throughout all the residential areas will have a significant impact on increasing Liberty happiness. It is most beneficial when they are placed inareas with large groups of housing. Each library costs $3,600 and requires 3 workers with a high school education.
Add Radio Stations
Radio Stationsare used to communicate with the citizens of the island nation. They can be used tosway political opinion, garnering favor for one faction over another. Their influence can be seen in workers at their jobs. All of these influential broadcasts will cause a decrease in the Liberty generated as they influence the population to think one way or another.
When the player sets the Radio Station toOpen Mind, it will function toincrease Liberty. Adding the Eiffel Tower to the island can decrease the number of Radio Stations required to reach the entire populace, reducing the number of funds and workers needed. The blueprint for a radio station costs $600, and building the station costs $2,400. It requires 10 MW of electricity and 2 workers with a high school education to run.

Add TV Stations
TV Stationsare particularly effective on the young and retired. Adding TV Stations will help increase Liberty in the surrounding areas. They can also be used to sway political opinions, urging the population to favor one faction over another. The player will have to take care with what setting they put their TV Stations on, as some of them will significantly decrease Liberty. They should be set up with thebasic mode on.
Adding the Eiffel Tower can increase the broadcast capacity of the TV Stations, reducing the need for multiple. As they are relatively expensive, this may be a wise investment. One TV Station costs $4,100 for research and $8,200 for construction. The maximum number of workers is 5 witha high school education. It requires 45 MW of electricity for operation.

Use The Right To Arms Edict
If the player gets to a certain point and becomes stuck, unable to increase their Liberty any further, no matter what they do, there’s an ace in the hole. TheRight to Arms edictgives a major boost to Liberty. However, it doesn’t become available until the World Wars era. At rank 1, it increases Liberty by 15. At rank 2, it increases by 18. At rank 3, it increases by 20.
