Summary
Team Fortress 2fans have something to celebrate, as it’s been revealed that the comic is returning after 7 years. The series came to an abrupt halt back in January of 2017, with the release ofThe Naked and the Dead. WhileTeam Fortress 2fans have wanted it to return, chances are that most had given up hope of ever seeing a continuation.
The Valve comic has been utilized to do everything from advertising new updates in the game to fleshing out backstories forTF2’s mercenaries. As part of the teasers for the Sniper vs Spy update, the first comic,The Insult That Made a “Jarate Master” Out of Sniper, introduced the concept of Jarate, which would become an iconic secondary weapon for the Sniper. The series made further appearances for additional class updates and eventually evolved into a full-fledged comic series, introduced a number of NPCs that had never been seen in-game before, like Ms Pauling or The Administrator, and generally served as a way of generating excitement for the game within the fandom.

Now, confirmation has come from official channels that the seventh chapter of theTeam Fortress 2comic is in development. A TF2 community member, PieSpie, reached out toValve writer Jay Pinkerton, regarding a community-led seventh chapter that would wrap up the story that’s been stuck on its penultimate chapter for the last seven years. Shockingly, Pinkerton replied to the fan and said that the official script for the seventh chapter was actually finished, and had been worked on by the original team behind the first six chapters. Pinkerton noted that the script was “being drawn as we speak,” and that while he couldn’t offer any guarantees about its release window, it’s genuinely in-progress.
The Team Fortress 2 Comic is Returning, Confirmed
There was initially some doubt as to whether this was legitimate information, as it all came from screenshotted emails. However, fellowValve writer Erik Wolpawconfirmed the claim, revealing that the script was 184 pages long and complete. He also noted that the comic would be arriving with three variant covers once it’s ready for release.
TheTeam Fortress 2fanbase has been overjoyed at the news, especially since the comic stopped on the penultimate chapter and a cliffhanger. It’s been a good time to be aTeam Fortress 2fan lately, as Valve also recently performed amassive bot ban inTF2. While it still remains to be seen ifTeam Fortress 2will ever receive major content updates with Valve-made content again, any sign of life from the development team is eagerly welcomed by the community.
