Summary
The many character traits that players can choose from inStarfieldallow for many unique styles of play, but a funny experience shared by one fan of the game proves that these traits can lead to a number of unexpected moments. Character customization is a big part of nearly any role-playing game, butStarfieldtakes these possibilities to a new level with countless perks and background traits that can make a custom character feel even more alive.
There are a range of traits to choose fromwhen creating a character inStarfield, with each of these traits contributing to the player character’s overall personality while also allowing for some small bonus perks. Players can only select up to three traits for their character, though, and many of the available perks aren’t without their downsides. For example, fans who want to play as a more extroverted character may choose the extroverted trait, which results in the consumption of less oxygen when traveling with companions but more when traveling alone. The introverted trait does the exact opposite, and while there are several traits that behave similarly, players can only choose one or the other when it comes to opposing traits.

There are many other slightlymore complex traits available inStarfieldas well, some of which have a bigger impact on the game than others. These traits can even prove to provide unexpected effects as well, as was recently demonstrated in an entertaining clip shared on Reddit by the user EarlGrey_Picard. The clip shows that the extroverted trait is just one of several traits that can provide unique dialogue options in conversations, which the player exploited in order to confuse the guard. After repeating the same line several times in a hilarious back-and-forth with the guard, the player successfully managed to slip out of a situation that could have resulted in them being detained or even attacked.
Just like with the many other open-world role-playing titles produced by Bethesda, conversations are a big part ofStarfieldand can often lead to substantial opportunities or, conversely, some tragic consequences. Of course, players can choose to play these sorts of games however they please, and opting to improve a character’s smooth-talking skills is just as viable as letting the guns do the talking instead.
The impressive scope, depth, andsheer vastness ofStarfieldhas led many players to consider it Bethesda’s most ambitious title to date, with the game featuring not just a single planet to explore but nearly a thousand. This sort of scale means that players are constantly discovering new things in the game, from entire worlds to catalog to simple but entertaining conversations that can be had with certain NPCs spread across the galaxy.
Starfieldis available on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
