Reddit user CalciferAtlas is among severalStarfieldplayers to highlight the wide-open eyes of the NPCs and their staring problem. CalciferAtlas shared an image with 12 examples of the latest Bethesda NPC phenomena that show subtle differences between their eyes. Though some of the off-putting examples are of NPCs looking directly attheStarfieldprotagonist, others are unrealistically maintaining eye contact while angling their heads away from CalciferAtlas. In most cases, the NPCs resemble memes and GIFs that effectively portray the shocked expression. While CalciferAtlas' image doesn’t spotlight the mainStarfieldNPCs, the eye problem may still extend to important plot characters.

AlthoughSkyrimandFalloutNPCs haven’t been known to have the same issue as the bug affectingStarfieldones, they still sometimes behave strangely. Given thatStarfieldis such a massive game, some NPCs may not have been encountered yet. Beyond this eye issue, NPCs may also warp intoterrifyingStarfieldmonstersdue to another rare glitch that players have encountered. Despite these NPC-related glitches,Starfieldis mostly bug-free compared toFallout 4andSkyrimat launch. While someStarfieldplayers have praised a portion of the facial expressions that the NPCs make, others may be distracted by the others that have wide eyes.

Despite some memorable NPC stereotypes in Bethesda games, each game improved from its launch state. BecauseStarfieldis a new release, Bethesda may be able to fix the NPC eyes with a future update. ThoughStarfieldhad a day one patch, it’s currently unclear how long it will take for the next one to roll out.

Starfieldis available now in early access and officially launches for PC and Xbox Series X/S on September 6.
