Given that it is a Bethesda RPG, it is perhaps unsurprising thatStarfieldfeatures an incredibly wide range of ways to make money. Players can get a day job with an interplanetary corporation, they can join several different defense forces, they can even become pirates and roam the systems looking for pillage and plunder. When it comes to making money inStarfield, the only limit seems to be players' imaginations.
One of the earliest - and easiest - ways for players to make money inStarfieldis introduced very early in the game. Using the trusty Scanner system, players can fill out informational surveys that can then be sold to virtually any merchant in the game. The trick, however, is finding specific merchants that will give the player the best possible price for these special items. This guide will point the player in the right direction.

Where to Sell Survey Slates in Starfield
Survey Slates can be sold at just about any location that has a merchant. However, most of these places will not give the best possible price. The Trade Authority will give 573 credits for a base Survey Slate, from a planet with nothing to survey. The prices go up from there.
However, for the moment, there is one known location that gives a far better price for any and all Survey Slates: Vladimir at the Eye.

The player will be introduced to Vladimir fairlyearly inStarfield’s main story. He will be found in Constellation’s space station, known as the Eye. His main function will be using the scanning system to locate some of the game’s most important items. Because of this, it makes sense that he would also be interested in survey data.
After the initial quest-related interactions with Vladimir, the player can return to them anytime and begin a conversation. In his dialogue options, select “I’ve got some survey data for you.” This will bring up a merchant menu that features all the Survey Slates the player has in their possession. Note in the above image, every slate is worth twice as much as it was at the Trade Authority.

With this information in mind, answering the question of where to sell Survey Slates can only currently be answered in one way: take it to Vladamir.
How to Get Survey Slates in Starfield
The easy answer to the question of how to acquire Survey Slates is simple: completely survey an entire planet and the slate will be automatically added to the Miscellaneous section of the player’s inventory. However, there are several variables that can determine how this plays out.
Using Handheld and Ship Scanners:
The best way to tell how complicated acquiring a specific planet’s Survey Slate is going to be is by using both ofStarfield’s scanning systems. The first chance a player will have to scan a planet or moon is with their ship’s scanner, usually when they first enter orbit. The basic scanner will only give information for the object they are orbiting.
Planets and moons can have up to four different categories of objects to scan and survey. They are:

Scanning a planet or a moon while in orbit will reveal how many of these categories it contains. Some barren planets and moons will have nothing but resources to scan. Some gas-planets and moons will have nothing to survey from the ground, and will be complete after a scan while in orbit.
The more in depth or complex a survey is, the more valuable its slate will be.
