As revealed byStarWars.com, legendary comic writer and artist Peach Momoko will create a one-shot in conjunction with Marvel as part of theStar Wars: Visionsfamily. The release, titledStar Wars: Visions - Peach Momoko #1, will be the first in a new series of stories from several comics creators. Much like the 2 seasons fans have enjoyed on Disney Plus, this set of tales will be set in theStar Warsuniverse while staying disconnected from previous entries in the franchise. It will also feature several new characters from the artists' creative minds.

The new story from Momoko deals with Ankok, a cult devoted toa long-dead Sith Lord, and she’s got some interesting ideas behind it. “I wanted to tell a story about a cult. And I felt within theStar Warsuniverse, the dark side was something that ties to when a human, or something living, loses itself and then wants to rely on believing something to have hope to live,” Momoko explained. “I believe falling to the dark side is nothing to be ashamed of. It could save you. Sometimes the dark side can help defeat your trauma and fear. In the story, Ankok’s belief is that the time when light defeats darkness has ended. It is the time to accept the darkness. And [cult leader] Tata is only using the dark side to help those who need a ‘dark light.'”

Momoko has some experience working with Marvel already, as 2021 saw her create what she calls the “Momoko-verse.” This series of comics features herinterpretations of various Marvel heroesthrough the lens of Japanese folklore. She also recently created a story forStar Wars: Darth Vader – Black, White & Red, which predictably offers an anthology of tales surrounding Darth Vader. So she’s no newcomer toStar Warsor Marvel and will be a welcome addition toVisions.
