As fans have been eagerly awaiting any news about the upcoming and highly anticipatedSpider-Man 3, some interesting details have emerged regarding the setting of the sequel. Thanks to some sneaky set photos, it appears as though this next Spider-Man adventure will take place during the holiday season.
The set photos shared byTwitter user @mattlovescinemaas well as a video provided byInstagram user Atlanta Filmingshow stars Tom Holland and Zendaya filming in a snowy street location with various storefronts decorated for the holidays. Production forSpider-Man 3is currently taking place in Atlanta and is expected to wrap shooting by March 2021.

Following the shocking post-credit scene inSpider-Man: Far From Home, this untitled sequel will likely follow Peter Parker’s attempts to clear his name. Of course, there has also been a lot of talk about how the multiverse will play into this story with Jamie Foxx and Alfred Molina set to reprise their roles from the previous series as Electro and Doc Ock respectively. There are also rumors thatAndrew Garfield and Tobey Maguirewill join the project, and even reports that Charlie Cox filmed a cameo as Matt Murdock aka Daredevil. With the addition of a Christmas theme, thispromises to be a jam-packed movie.
Without confirmation from the studios, set photos can only tell so much. The photos could only be capturing one small sequence in the movie and the rest of the movie could have nothing to do with the holiday season. Of course,the movie’s release date of December 17certainly does sets it up to be a fun holiday superhero adventure.
Fans might remember thatIron Man 3was also set around Christmas, as is the custom will many of Shane Black’s movies. Seeing as Peter Parker looks up to Tony Stark so much, it seems fitting that his third solo outing would also be a holiday movie. And if the MCU wants to really go for a Christmas movie, Spider-Man seems like the perfect character for it as his movies have a certain fun and light-heartedness that works for the genre.
While the holiday aspect could be a fun inclusion for this third movie, it does seem as thoughSpider-Man 3continues to grow out of control. Part of the charm of the first two movies was seeing a lower-stakes adventure that allows Tom Holland to shine as the hero. With such a massive cast and such big story elements, there is fear thatHolland’s Spider-Man might get lost in the mix. However, the MCU has handled such massive stories before and have earned the trust of fans.
Spider-Man 3is set to be released on June 17, 2025.
