Summary
Overwatch 2’s new hero additions have certainly been interesting thus far. Lifeweaver is getting yet another batch of buffs to hopefully be viable at high-level play, while Kiriko and Ramattra have thrived ever since they debuted. Junker Queen has been all over the place, though she has always been fun to play, while Sojourn was broken for several months in a row. While she has become less overpowered after various nerfs to her kit, there is another criticism about the Damage hero that Blizzard is only just beginning to address:Sojourn’s lack of memorable cosmetics.
This criticism does not apply to the other new additions toOverwatch 2, as fans do not need to look far to find great skins like Poseidon Ramattra, Gladiator Junker Queen, or Witch Kiriko. For Sojourn, though, players will find some relatively tame and samey-looking outfits. Her emotes and victory poses are not the flashiest, either. This has not helped Sojourn’s reputation of being a “boring” character, but thankfully, Sojourn’s animated short could hold the answers to her cosmetic situation.

“Calling” Allows For Murphy Cosmetics and Two Memorable Sojourn Skins
While showing Sojourn’s vigilante work and civilian life has gone a long way to making her a more likable character, the “Calling” animated shortsets up a few fun skin ideas as well. One outfit is already confirmed to be coming in Season 6, that being her vigilante attire. This design is simple on the surface, as Sojourn’s crime fighting costume is as simple as an all-black outfit and a motorcycle helmet, yet its sleek design and prominence within an animated short make it very desirable. However, Blizzard does not need to stop there with its short-related Sojourn cosmetics.
The next outfit would be comparable toMei’s Pajamei outfit, which funnily enough also debuted in an animated short for the ice-wielder. Much like that outfit depicts Mei in an extremely casual outfit, Blizzard should bring Sojourn’s civilian attire over to the hero shooter. This outfit sees the railgun-wielder donning a sweater to help with the cold Canadian weather, with some glasses making her look a lot less intimidating than she usually does. With most of her cosmetics leaning into her cybernetic enhancements and military experience, a “normal” skin like this would be welcome.
However, this new piece of Sojourn story content does not only provide skin ideas. Sojourn’s adorable pet dog Murphy steals the show, with Blizzard’s talented animators accentuating his cuteness whenever he is shown. An emote where Sojourn scolds Murphy for eating a croissant, or summons him for cuddles in a way that resembles Brigitte’s popular Katt emote, could be a good addition. Additionally, a victory pose where Murphy is seen playing with hisPachimaritoy would be a bundle-seller for sure.
If Blizzard wanted to, it could even add another Toronto map featuring Sojourn’s house, or incorporate it in the upcoming Canada PvE mission. During the short, Sojourn’s house is shown transforming into a fortress with a full armory, and it could be fun to fight inside it. If players ever get the chance to explore the house, perhaps they could spot some alternate outfits for Sojourn inside, withBlizzardteasing potential skins for her via an Easter egg and gauging the community’s response to see which are worth making.
Ultimately, the big takeaway is that Sojourn’s short can provide a lot of potential cosmetics. It already did a good job of hyping upOverwatch 2’s Invasion story missions, and it should also be used as a springboard to give fans of the hero more exciting cosmetics to collect. WhileSojourn’s Ocean Goddessskin is a great step in the right direction, adding more items based on her animated short will help keep the ball rolling.
Overwatch 2is available now on PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
