As Konami has shown an increasing disinterest in traditional video game development and publishing, fans have been hoping to see its popular IP picked up by other companies. One of the more persistent rumors is thatSony has made deals with Konamifor some of its games to make their way to the PlayStation 5 console as exclusives, though nothing official has been announced at the time of this writing.
One Konami franchise in particular,Metal Gear Solid, has been at the center of the rumors. Multiple leaks have suggested that Sony is having Bluepoint Games work on aMetal Gear SolidPS5 remake, but it seems that there may be more than just the originalMetal Gear Solidremake to look forward to. Leaker KatharsisT from Resetera has said that there are “several MGS Remakes” in development.

KatharsisT stopped short of providing more details about theMetal Gear Solidremakes, and it’s unclear exactly what their scope would be. It’s possible that multiple games in theMetal Gear Solidseries are indeed getting a full-blown remake treatment like what is supposedly happening with the original game, but it’s also possible that some of the otherMetal Gear Solidgames are getting 4K facelifts instead.
KatharsisT provided no evidence to back up their claims, so fans should take this news with a massive grain of salt for now. That being said, there is at least some evidence that some kind ofMetal Gear Solid-related announcementwill be happening sooner rather than later.
A mysterious Twitter account has started teasingMetal Gearnews, which could come as early as this week. What that news could be is anyone’s guess, but the account is pretending to be a character who works at Big Shell, afacility featured inMetal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty. Based on this, one would imagine that whatever the account is teasing is related toMetal Gear Solid 2, with one theory being that theMetal Gear Solid HD Collectionis getting ported.
Meanwhile, another leak claims that abrand newMetal Gear Solidcollection is in the works, and thatMetal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, currently a pure PS3 exclusive, is going to be making the jump to new platforms as well. Again, none of this has actually been confirmed, and so fans should keep their expectations in check while they wait to see if anyMetal Gearnews actually drops this week or not.
