Summary

It’s possible that PlayStationwill be showcasing the long-rumoredPS5 Proat the upcoming Tokyo Game Show event, set to kick off on September 26. ThePlayStation 5 Prohas been rumored for quite some time, and will presumably fulfill a function similar to what the PS4 Pro accomplished back in the day. It will be a mid-gen upgrade that gives gamers a more powerful machine that won’t have exclusives, but will allow for better performance.

Sony has yet to officially announce the PS5 Pro, but the company has a long history of releasing console revisions. In fact, every single PlayStation console has had a revision of some kind. ThePS5 itself has already had its slim variants released, and so it seems like the PS5 Pro reveal is just a matter of time.

Anew report by Insider Gamingaddresses the recent rumors that the PS5 Pro could be pushed back to 2025 instead of releasing in late 2024 as was previously believed. The report indicates that there is no sign the PS5 Pro has been delayed, so it seems like PlayStation fans can still expect the souped-up new console to be available at some point within the next five months. The end of the report points out thatPlayStation will be at Tokyo Game Showfor the first time in five years, and so Insider Gaming has speculated that it’s possible that the PS5 Pro will either be announced at the event, or that it will be revealed earlier in September and then given a proper showcase at TGS. This year’s Tokyo Game Show runs from September 26 to September 29, so there are a few different days PlayStation could potentially show off its rumored new console.

PS5 Pro Still Rumored for 2024

If the PS5 Pro is announced earlier in September, one has to wonder if the reveal will take place as part of a State of Play or larger PlayStation Showcase. While one has not been officially announced at the time of this writing, there have been rumors that Sony is planning to host aPlayStation Showcase in Septemberthat will supposedly showcase Bungie’sMarathongame and even include a teaser for a newDestinygame. Those rumors come from less reliable sources, and so fans should take that information with a massive grain of salt, but it wouldn’t be the first time Sony has hosted a major event around this time of year.

Of course, it’s entirely possible that Sony isn’t planning on revealing or releasing the PS5 Pro at any point in the near future, and so fans should keep that in mind. Still, it wouldn’t be a bad idea forPlayStation gamersto circle September 26 on their calendars just in case.
