Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republicis viewed by many gamers to be one of the best games of all time. Hence, why many fans of the game have been calling for a remake for years at this point. These fans have finally gotten their wish, however, the remake ofStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republicis reportedly planning to do some things a little differently.
The developer of the remake, Aspyr, has put out a job listing looking for a lead combat designer with one of the essential functions of the position regarding building interesting encounters that challenge the player’s skill and strategy. A YouTuber known as MrMattyPlays also recently came out with a video stating that the remake will most likely ditch the turn-based combat system in the original game in favor of a more action-based system. The YouTuber has made many accurate predictions regarding the game so far owing to his network of sources. He was previously able to find out that the original game was being ported to the Nintendo Switch before it was officially confirmed.

Although the change in combat system may not be to some fans' liking, this method has worked in other recent remakes. For example, the remake ofFinal Fantasy 7also decided to make the change from turn-based combatand did so with a resounding amount of success.Final Fantasy 7took some inspiration fromFinal Fantasy 15when developing the combat system and it will be interesting to see if Aspyr decides to take any inspiration from more recentStar Warsgames.
Rumors have also been doing the rounds that theStar Wars: Knights of the Old Republicremake may release as early as next year. This will certainly be surprising as the game is supposedly being built entirely from the ground up.
While the originalKnights of the Old Republicwas ported to Nintendo Switch, it will be interesting to see if the remake gets the same treatment. This will depend on a multitude of factors, with the main reason being how graphically intense the game will be. The Switch has, however, been able to runDoom Eternal,albeit, with downgraded graphics and at 30 FPS.
It seems as though fans are not the only ones excited for the remake as BioWare, the developer of the original game, stated on its official Twitter page thatit is excited to see what Aspyr does with the remake.
