Developer Rockstar Games has not revealed anything as of yet about its hotly anticipatedGrand Theft Auto 6. However, many fans are hoping that aGrand Theft Auto 6announcement is not far away, asGrand Theft Auto 5was released all the way back in 2013, two console generations ago.
The search for any hint aboutGrand Theft Auto 6has been going on for quite some time now, with evenNetflix France having some fun teasingGrand Theft Autofans. There have been a number of leaks, plenty of speculation, and fans who simply can’t wait. Some have even taken to looking at websites registered to the game’s publisher Take-Two Interactive to see if they can scrounge up any hints or crumbs of details.

Most recently, the Twitter account GTA 6 NEWS found that the domain rockstarcartel.com, which is owned by Take-Two, was updated on April 12, possibly hinting that the company is getting a website ready for visitors after an impending announcement. GTA 6 NEWS then pointed out that going to the URL returns a dead page, but does link to an error page of Rockstar Games' website. The domain does match the many hints andleaks thatGrand Theft Auto 6will be returning to Vice City, the fan-favorite setting from 2002’sGrand Theft Auto: Vice City.
The domain’s reference to a cartel also matches what many of the leaks have pointed to, a story that sees the player working in Maimi, Florida as part of a cartel smuggling drugs into the country. Many rumors and leaks have also pointed to a massive map dubbed"Project America" that would include all ofGrand Theft Auto 5’s map, as well as other cities, with one possibly being located in South America. Of course, all of this should be taken with a grain of salt, as Rockstar Games has not even confirmed thatGrand Theft Auto 6is in development yet.
A lot of the information in the leaks does make sense, however.Grand Theft Auto 5saw the series returning to San Andreas for the second time in the series, so it would not be surprising if the developers wanted to go back to Vice City. The map being massive enough to include all ofGrand Theft Auto 5’s map would also make sense, not only from a technical advancement standpoint but also so that the new game could integrate more seamlessly with theincredibly popularGrand Theft Auto Online.
Of course, it is also very possible that none of the leaks or rumors are accurate. It would not even be unusual if the rockstarcartel.com domain had nothing to do withGrand Theft Auto 6. Developers frequently register domain names for any possible variation or idea they have for a series just in case they end up needing it in the future, and this could easily be the case here. Hopefully, with the summer of game events and announcements coming, players will get some indication of what is coming up for theGrand Theft Autoseries.
