A new mod forResident Evil 2puts players in the shoes of Lieutenant Marvin Branagh in the events leading up to the start ofResident Evil 2. As a high-ranking officer at the Raccoon City Police Department, Branagh played a critical role in the response to the initial T-virus outbreak. During the beginning ofResident Evil 2,Leon Kennedyarrives at the Raccoon City Police Department on his first day on the job and is briefed about the situation by Branagh. Now, players will get to experience the hours before Kennedy’s arrival and the attempted lockdown of the police station.

Created by modder Aydan Watkins, theResident Evil 2prequel, dubbed Marvin’s Mod, players control Marvin Branagh accompanied by Officer Rita Phillips, who later escapes the Raccoon City Police Station in the events ofResident Evil 2. Marvin’s Mod uses many classic assets fromResident Evil 2, allowing players to experience original PlayStation-like gameplay.

to play theResident Evil 2prequel Marvin’s Mod, fans just have to go to the official website to download it. It does not require players to ownResident Evil 2to run it. In the official trailer, Lt. Branagh fights his way through the police station with the help of Rita Phillips, encountering police officers infected by the T-virus, zombie dogs, a licker, and what looks like a G-type zombie. Players will also come across a few side characters fromResident Evil 2and interact with other police officers around the station.

Marvin’s Mod gives players a whole new perspective about the events in the Raccoon City police department before theResident Evil 2protagonists show up. While it is fan-made and not canon, it may shed a little light on Marvin Branagh’s situation from the eyes of modder Aydan Watkins, who has created variousResident Evilmods, including one that puts players in the shoes ofAda Wongand another that allows players to play as The Hunter.

Resident Evilis certainly a popular series to mod, as fans have put out various mods ranging from afixed camera inResident Evil 7to ridiculous ones like changing characters toFamily Guystars or turning Nemesis into Shrek.

Recently, Capcom hosted aResident Evilshowcase event revealing details about the upcoming titleResident Evil: Villageand gaiving a solid release date of July 08, 2025. While players wait for the release ofResident Evil: Village, they can revisit the Raccoon City Police Station in Marvin’s Mod.
