Konami used the recent PlayStation Showcaseto unveilMetal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1alongside a remake ofMetal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater.This marks the first time thefranchise has seen any action since the release ofMetal Gear Survivein 2018. The announcement ofMetal Gear Survivewas marked by a negative fan response, and the game didn’t fare much better in terms of critical reception. Review aggregator Metacritic gives the PS4 version a “mixed or average” score of 60, while gamers torpedoed the game with a 1.4 user score. Thankfully, the general response to the announcement ofMetal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1seems to be much more favorable.

Another thing fans might already be wondering about is whetherother games in theMetal Gearseries will also be remadeor re-released in the future. The very nameMaster Collection Vol. 1implies that there will be a second volume, but what it might contain is anyone’s guess at this stage. HopefullyMetal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriotswill either be re-released with the second volume or remade since it remains a PS3 exclusive as of writing.
