Pokemon Scarlet and Violetrelease a new trailer that reveals the Electric-type Pokemon used by Gym Leader Iono in the new games, Bellibolt.Pokemon Scarlet and Violetrecently revealed Gym leader Iono, who works as a streamer when she’s not busy defending her gym in Pokemon battles. Iono’s reveal video teased the introduction of a brand-new Generation 9 Pokemon forPokemon Scarlet and Violet, but it ended before players were able to figure out exactly who the Pokemon was.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetlets players face Gym Leaders in any order they wish. Because of this, those that make a beeline straight to Levincia will be able to face off against Iono and her Electric-type Bellibolt fairly early on in the game. With Bellibolt being a pure Electric-type,Pokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers will want to make sure that they bring along Pokemon that are super effective against it, like Ground-type Pokemon and avoid using Flying- and Water-type Pokemon. This means thatPokemon Scarlet and Violetplayers who choose Quaxlyas their starter Pokemon may want to consider going after a different Gym Leader first.

Gym Leader Iono’s full roster of Pokemon has yet to be revealed, but fans do know that Bellibolt is a part of her team. Bellibolt comes equipped with a special new ability called Electromorphosis, which makes it so whenever it’s hit by an attack, its Electric-type moves are amplified. It’s unknown at this point if Bellibolt evolves into anything or if it evolves from a different Pokemon, but that should come to light when fans actually get their hands on thePokemon Scarlet and Violetgames next month.
Bellibolt is an interesting Pokemon design-wise, with rather unique features. While one might assume the huge eyeball-looking lumps on its head are its eyeballs, it turns out the yellow nostril-looking things on its eyes. So far, the community seems to be having a mixed reaction to Bellibolt, but it will be interesting to see how opinion on it changes when thePokemon Scarlet and Violetrelease daterolls around.
Prior to Bellibolt’s reveal, there was speculation that it would be yet another regional fake inPokemon Scarlet and Violet, ala Wiglett, but that doesn’t appear to be the case. For the uninitiated, “regional fakes” are a term fans have given to Pokemon in the new games that look similar to older Pokemon but are not considered regional variants.Wiglett is the only regional fake that’s been revealed forPokemon Scarlet and Violetso far, but more are expected to be featured in the games.
There are plenty ofnew Pokemon left to be revealed forPokemon Scarlet and Violet, and with only a month to go before the games are out, it’s unclear just how many fans will see prior to launch. For now, Bellibolt can be added to the list of new Pokemon inPokemon Scarlet and Violet.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violetlaunch November 18, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
