Pokemon ScarletandVioletwill be releasing this November, three years after the introduction of Gen 8 viaPokemon SwordandShield, which remained the main competitive hub for the series in the meanwhile. AlthoughPokemon ScarletandVioletwere announced in February, very little is officially known about the games due to the lack of new trailers, as only one was released since the Gen 9 reveal. As such, a great source of information about whatPokemon ScarletandVioletwill include is a knownPokemonleaker by the name of Riddler Khu.
Khu has a proven track record that goes way back, and they shared all sorts of correct information aboutPokemon Legends: Arceusprior to its launch in January. Among various things, Khu also teasedPokemon ScarletandViolet’s new systems and gimmickswith a series of tweets that discussed elements from the first and second official trailers, as well as new unannounced things to come. Now, Khu shared their preferences for mainlinePokemongames on Twitter, rankingPokemon ScarletandVioletand its DLC in third place.

Although there were no rumors or anything official aboutPokemon ScarletandVioletgetting extra content in the form of DLC or expansion passes, the consensus was that this was likely to happen because of the wayPokemon SwordandShield’s post-release content was handled. Still, Khu has confirmed thatPokemon ScarletandVioletwill indeed get some form of DLC, even though nothing about what this entails has been shared. There is a huge chance that Gen 9 will have a similar approach to that ofGen 8Pokemongames, in the sense that a DLC pack could expand the Pokedex and allow players to explore new areas.
It’s not implausible to think that Generation 9 will have some form of Pokedex cut, especially considering that with new Pokemon on the way the total number of critters could draw very near to one thousand. Much likePokemon SwordandShield, an expansion could feature a few new and many returning Pokemon that players can catch, and it could even include a return to Kalos, something that’s heavily been rumored seeing howGen 9’s region is inspired by Spain and Portugal. A DLC for the new games could also be a completely new endgame experience that builds on the open-world mechanics of Gen 9.
Recently, Khu has alsoteased a time travel plot forPokemon ScarletandViolet, which would seemingly work similarly to the relationship between the main characters in a movie called The Lake House. Overall, for Khu to rankPokemon ScarletandVioletso high and for the games to have interesting new concepts, it’s possible that the world in Gen 9 will be quite big and its gameplay compelling enough to warrant the release of a DLC pack that’s more than just some critters returning.
