Summary

Niantic has secretly removed the shiny lock from the much coveted Lake Trio inPokemon GO, comprising of Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie. It should be noted that it isn’t that shiny variants of the Lake Trio weren’t present in the game, but instead, they have only been available inPokemon GOas part of events such as the Sinnoh Tour.

The Lake Trio has been by far some of the rarest Pokemon to catch, rivaling the likes of theGalarian Birds inPokemon GO. While events do somewhat make them easier to catch, finding them in the wild is an arduous task. In fact, these Pokemon were not even available in the wild for almost a year, before they were featured in the Sinnoh Tour. But right after that, players started encountering them in the wild, and it seems like now it is possible to catch the shiny variants in the wild as well.

In a new post on The Silph Road subreddit, user ginji highlights an interesting discovery that players have made recently. As per numerous posts on Twitter, theLake Trio is no longer shiny-locked. This means that players will be able to encounter shiny variants of the Pokemon in the wild, something which wasn’t possible earlier. In fact, some players even reported encountering it as part of their Daily Adventure Incense.

Lake Trio Is No Longer Shiny Locked In The Wild, But There Is A Catch

The claim was further corroborated by several other players in the community, who shared similar encounters as well. Players are unsure if they can flee or not. While some have reported that they haven’t fled for them despite taking a while to catch, which is similar to their behavior during the Sinnoh Tour, it is not yet confirmed whether this is the case for all spawns or was just alucky encounter inPokemon GO.

Players who are looking to catch the likes of Uxie, Azelf, and Mesprit, should be aware of the fact that despite them being shiny unlocked in the wild, the region restrictions still apply. This was not the case during the Sinnoh Tour as they were available as global spawns, which helped a lot of players catch them with ease. However, right now, players will only be able to encounter Uxie in Asia Pacific, Mesprit is in Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and Azelf in the Americas. Finding a shiny one is going to be extremely difficult considering they are one of therarest spawns inPokemon GOto begin with. While several players have reported encountering them recently, it could be just recency bias at play in this scenario.
