Pokemon GOplayers may not be able to get out into the world and explore for new Pokestops and Gyms very much right now thanks to stay-at-home orders and social distancing best practices, but that isn’t slowing Niantic down from making constant improvements to the game. The devs have done a great jobmoving to remote events and improving spawnsto keep players engaged over the last month and the game is still moving forward and growing despite these strange current events.
Although many recent changes toPokemon GOrelate directly to making the game more playable while social distancing, that’s not the only work Niantic has been up to do. In addition to otherrecently announced quality of life improvements, the game’s latest datamine outlines some additional longterm improvements and updates that have been added to the game’s master code.

As always, note that code found in data mines is subject to change and could roll out in a different form (or not at all) as plans change. That said, this week’s first datamine hints at the arrival of a long-awaited quality of life feature: Friend Filtering.
This new option would allow players to quickly sort their friends list by additional filters like who can still accept Gifts, who is Interactable, who is Lucky, or simply by Friend Level.

Both of these changes seem fairly exciting, though the Wayfarer Badge doesn’t really impact gameplay, but hopefully both updates are rolled out in the near future so players can take advantage of them.Pokemon GOseems to be making very frequent updates in recent weeks, so it’s not unlikely that this code is fairly close to launching.
