APokemon Scarlet and Violetplayer, with needles and yarn in hand, stitched together a homemade Appleton crochet doll. When their recreation of the Apple Nectar Pokemon was completed, the creator posted their finished work on Reddit, where it caught the attention and the praise of manyPokemon Scarlet and Violetfans.
Originally introduced a generation earlier inPokemon Sword and Shield, Appletun is a Grass and Dragon dual-type Pokemon known for its high HP and decent special attack statistics despite being slow. Its counterpart Flapple was considered frail but faster and had decent physical attack statistics. Both Appletun and Flapple had a Gigantamax form in the Galar region that looked nearly identical despite their standard appearances being vastly different. Though it has some glaring weaknesses, including a quadruple-weakness to Ice-type attacks, an Appletun with the Thick Fat ability can reduce the damage it takes from Fire-type and Ice-type attacks by half.Pokemon Scarlet and Violetthat want to get this ability easily canobtain an Ability Patch from Tera raid battles.

On the r/PokemonScarletViolet subreddit, a user named duilcet crocheted the Appletun doll by hand over the span of three months. Known as an “Amigurumi” in Japan, the Appletun was created using a mix of different yarn colors, as well as crochet techniques such as single crochet stitches and invisible decreases. When duilcet finished, the Appletun doll was the size of her PC chair, with its snout extending past the edge of the bottom cushion’s length. True to its design in thePokemonseries, the Appletun features an apple stem on its back, with an apple pie lattice pattern and green stubby limbs. With its eyes folded into its ear lobes, and a tanned underbelly, duilcet’s Appletun may be one ofthe most impressive Pokemon crochet doll designsposted to date.
With over 3,200 upvotes, other r/PokemonScarletViolet Redditors praised duilcet for her dedication, her patience, and her creativity. In the comments, duilcet said she made the Appletun pattern on her own, and that it was her first original design since she first took up the art of crochet stitching over a year ago. However, duilcet stated that she does not take commissions at the time of writing. Trainers that want an Appletun of their own will either have to stitch one together themselves orobtain an Applin and evolve it into AppletunwithinPokemon Scarlet and Violet.
In the meantime,Patch 1.2 ofPokemon Scarlet and Violetwill be coming in February, and a potential DLC announcement is seemingly imminent. It remains to be seen if other Pokemon from Galar will be joining Appletun in Paldea, or if other fixes will be made to the games first.
