Summary
Pokemonhas released some wild products in the past, but its latest Sizzlipede chair has to be one of the company’s most endearingly bizarre products yet. This is the same company that released aweirdPokemonplush that lets fans sleep on Gengar’s tongue. In the same vein as the life-sized Snorlax pillow that was released several years ago, the adjustable Sizzlipede chair is just the latest example of The Pokemon Company’s endeavor to turn its fan-favorite creatures into furniture.
Similarly, The Pokemon Company has released countless plushies over the years, as fans love cuddling with their favorite adorable pocket monster. The company has even partnered with retailers like Build-a-Bear to give fans even more opportunities to get their hands on their favorite Pokemon. Fortunately for fans of the Hoenn starters,Build-a-Bear added Mudkip to itsPokemon-themed line of stuffed animals. The Pokemon Company’s latest offering, however, is targeted at fans looking for something a bit more life-sized.

Pokemonis now selling a Sizzlipede-style adjustable chair in Japan. Unfortunately for adult fans, the product looks to be aimed directly at kids as the chair measures in at 68 cm across and roughly 180 cm long. Still, with all the different adjustable positions, the Sizzlipede chair looks to be a comfortable, albeit strange, addition to any playroom.
There’s no word yet as to whether the chair will be offered outside of Japan, and the company offering the product, Cellutane, doesn’t ship outside of the country. For those who are able to purchase and collect this unique merchandise, the chair is being sold for 14,990 Yen, which equates to just over $100 USD.
It is nice to see Cellutane shining a light on an underrepresented Pokemon. The Gen 8 Fire and Bug-type creature isn’t exactly one ofthe top ten most popular Pokemon. But with countless fans across the world, there’s bound to be a handful of trainers with a soft spot for Sizzlipede.
Left-field ideas have often been good for The Pokemon Company. Some of theoddestPokemoncollaborations in franchise historyhave led to some truly inspired products. WhenPokemoncollaborated with the strategy RPG seriesNobunga’s Ambition, it was certainly a head-scratcher for the average fan in the West. That said, the final product,Pokemon Conquest, resulted in some of the best reviews for a spin-off title in the franchise. Now, the underrated spin-off title remains an all-but-forgotten gem that many fans hope the franchise returns to.
