Redditor MaidenMonarch, who regularly shares their numerous concepts for hero skins over on r/Overwatch, posted their idea for a 1950s-style look for Ashe and B.O.B. They styled Ashe in the unmistakable classic uniforms of diner waitresses from that era, while B.O.B. has a shirt, guitar, and pompadour reminiscent of rock icon Elvis Presley. The custom skins were a big hit with fellow fans on Reddit, with some even saying that it was better than the new skins Blizzard had recently come up with for Ashe.

Fans Don’t Seem to Like Official Overwatch 2 Skins As Much As Custom Concepts

Another Redditor commented on MaidenMonarch’s post saying they’ll never understand why Blizzard can’t come up with hero skins as good as fan creations. This seems to be acommon opinion among someOverwatch 2fanswho constantly criticize Blizzard’s releases. The general criticism is that the team seemingly tends to recycle older looks with minor tweaks, which players feel don’t really justify the money they spend on Battle Passes to get them.

In relation to minor tweaks, fans have also been complaining about howBlizzard decides the rarities for newOverwatch 2skins. According to them, some palette swaps for certain looks don’t deserve to be called Legendary or Mythic. Some see it as a blatant cash grab that seeks to use only the rarity itself to drive demand.

Despite these comments, there are still some good skins from Blizzard, and sometimes the developement team makes some popular looks more accessible. For example, this season, Sombra’sAztec skin is free as long as gamers play 48 games ofOverwatch 2during the period. This is to celebrate the game reaching over 100 million players, and it’s an example of a nice reward that’s relatively easy forOverwatch 2players to get.
