AnOverwatch 2fan has designed their own rework for Lifeweaver, making changes to two of the Support hero’s abilities to make him a much more useful character. Lifeweaver is the latest character added to theOverwatch 2roster, making his debut as part of Season 4. Traditionally, Blizzard has had an issue with newOverwatchheroes being overpowered when they’re first added to the game, but it seems Lifeweaver has had the opposite problem.

ManyOverwatch 2players have had issues with playing Lifeweaver effectively, leading to Blizzard buffing the character considerably since his introduction.Lifeweaver’s abilitiesrequire more coordination to use effectively when compared to other heroes on theOverwatch 2roster, which is what has inspired this fan-made rework that could solve some of the problems associated with the character.

Reddit user S1gilByte has designed some potential tweaks to Lifeweaver’s kit, complete with concept art, that would greatly improve the character. Specifically, they’ve tweakedLifeweaver’s Petal Platformand Tree of Life Ultimate, giving the former a healing rain and the latter a shield that would provide some added cover for Lifeweaver and his teammates.

The logic behind giving the Petal Platform a healing rain is that its current functionality of basically being an elevator is not all that useful in teams that aren’t extremely coordinated. Randoms may not even realize that they’ve stepped on the Petal Platform and so either leave or put themselves in a position where they are more open to enemy attack. By giving the Petal Platform the added functionality of healing rain, it would be a lot more useful in solo queue.

TheTree of Lifeshield has obvious benefits, though some comments on the post don’t necessarily like the idea. After all, one of other reasons whyOverwatch 2switched to a 5v5 format and reworked some of its existing characters was because of the “shield meta” that was dominating the hero shooter. One could argue that the Tree of Life already serves as an obstacle and so an extra shield would be redundant, but others think that Lifeweaver’s Ult is just not very useful in its current state and so the suggested shield could be what pushes it over the top.

Blizzard has drastically reworkedOverwatchheroes before, and so there’s certainly a change that LIfeweaver could experience some big changes in upcoming updates. In the meantime, it will be interesting to see if thenewOverwatch 2Support hero coming in Season 6runs into similar balance problems that inspire similar fanmade reworks.

Overwatch 2is out now in early access for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
