Overwatch 2players were looking forward to a big update on November 15 that would address hero balance issues as well as bring popular Damage hero Mei back to the game’s roster of playable characters, but now they’ll have to wait a little longer for it.Overwatch 2’s early access launch has not been without its problems, and it seems as though the technical issues are continuing for the popular hero-shooter.
Blizzard had to remove Mei fromOverwatch 2because of bugs impacting the character’s abilities. Mei has been sorely missed byOverwatch 2fans, especially since she is a solid counter to popular Damage hero Genji. Unfortunately,Overwatch 2players will have to wait a little longer for the November 15 update.

In the announcement confirming that theOverwatch 2November 15 updatewas delayed, but Blizzard said that it discovered a “critical issue” with the patch, but stopped short of providing specifics. Blizzard plans to update fans as soon as the problem is addressed, but did not provide an ETA on when that might be. Considering this, it’s possible that theOverwatch 2update will still go live today, or fans may be waiting much longer for it. It’s a guessing game at this point.
Ultimately, this means that theOverwatchcharacter nerfs,Mei’s return, and more have all been pushed back indefinitely. HopefullyOverwatch 2fans don’t have to wait too much longer for the update, but again, Blizzard has not provided a new timetable for the update.
When one looks at the plans forOverwatch 2’s immediate future, though, it seems likely that the update will be coming sooner rather than later. On December 6, Blizzard plans on launchingOverwatch 2Season 2, which will be marked by the debut ofnew Tank hero Ramattra. Assuming those plans haven’t changed, it stands to reason that the planned November 15 update forOverwatch 2will take place at some point between now and when Ramattra is added to the roster.
It will be interesting to see if temporary hero removals are a problem forOverwatch 2moving forward. Blizzard has already removed multiple heroes from the game so far, with Mei just the latest casualty. Recently discovered bugs involving Damage hero Sombra andSupport hero Brigittecould mean that they are next on the chopping block, but Blizzard has not announced any plans to remove them from the game just yet.
Overwatch 2is available in early access for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
