Summary

Blizzard has officially added the Hero Mastery mode toOverwatch 2as of the game’s latest update. Hero Mastery is a new game mode that lets players complete challenges as various heroes on the roster. It’s a way for players to better understand the skills of each hero inOverwatch 2, and as the name of the game mode implies, master them.

Originally, Hero Mastery mode was going to be a part ofOverwatch 2’s huge Season 6 launch. Unfortunately,Blizzard had to delay the Hero Mastery mode, but that doesn’t mean Season 6 has been lacking content. On the contrary,Overwatch 2Season 6 saw the biggest update that the hero shooter has seen since its original early access launch in 2022. It added new Support hero Ilari to the mix, introduced the Flashpoint game mode, and debuted the game’s first PvE story missions.

Overwatch 2players that have had their fill of the story content but are looking for some fresh non-PvP content can now check out the Hero Mastery mode, which is a single-player mode complete with leaderboards. Players have three difficulty levels to choose from per hero, with the goal of getting five stars with each member ofOverwatch 2’s roster. Mercy, Reinhardt, and Tracer are available at launch with Sojourn and Winston coming later in the season.

Hero Mastery isn’t the only big thing left to look forward to when it comes toOverwatch 2Season 6. Blizzard has also teased what fans can expect from theOverwatch 2Anniversary celebration. Starting September 19, Blizzard will be bringing back limited-timeOverwatch 2modes as part of the Anniversary event, with Battle for Olympus, Catch-A-Mari, Starwatch, andMischief and Magicspecifically named. There will also be returning Legendary skins in the shop that players can purchase with Overwatch Credits, which can be earned through special Anniversary challenges.

It won’t be long after theOverwatch 2Anniversary event wraps up that the game moves on to its next seasonal event. Unless Blizzard plans on skipping it this year,Overwatch 2’s Halloween Terror seasonal event should be making a comeback at some point in October. If previous years are any indication, this should include some brand-new Halloween-themed skins for players to purchase, as well as the return of theHalloween game modes like Junkenstein’s Revenge. It’s possible this year’s Halloween event will have some surprises in store, butOverwatch 2enthusiasts will just have to wait for more information on that front. In the meantime, they can check out the game’s latest update and mark their calendars for the start of the Anniversary event on September 19.

Overwatch 2is out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
