Fans did not have to wait long before ordering theirNintendo Switch OLEDconsoles. Starting today fans can pre order theirNintendo Switch OLEDfrom a variety of retailers.
The Nintendo Switch OLED came as a surprise announcement a few weeks back. As a new console in the Switch family, theSwitch OLED retains all of the featuresof the original, plus an assortment of other improvements. For instance, it boasts are a superior OLED screen, 64 GB of internal storage, and a new dock with an ethernet port. It is not, however, the long rumored Nintendo Switch Pro, the heavily rumored successor console that is more powerful than the original Switch.

Earlier this morning, Nintendo announced on Twitter that pre orders for the Nintendo Switch OLED will go live at 12PM PT. The console costs $349.99 and can be purchased either with the classic neon blue and red Joy-Cons and black dock, or the new white Joy-Cons and dock. Those interested can try purchasing a console from Nintendo directly, or confirmed retailers like Best Buy and GameStop. Considering the original Switch is still being sold at $299.99, it is a difficult questionwhether the OLED version is worth upgrading to.
Target
Walmart
While Best Buy, GameStop and Nintendo all have official listings for the Nintendo Switch OLED, as of this time, Amazon, Target and Walmart do not. That said, it may be better to try the former retailers first until the latter ones give confirmation that the console will be listed on their sites. Likewise, as with any console launch, expect a race when trying to secure a console, as many other people will be entering the page at the same time, and adding the console to their own carts. If the past year has proven anything, its that new consoles like thePS5 and the Xbox Series X/S sell out fast, so don’t expect this one to be any different.
Since its announcement, the Nintendo Switch OLED has had a pretty mixed reception in the gaming community. As mentioned, this console is not a true next generation Switch, but an updated version of the original console, in turn, disappointing many fans. With its improvements, it appears that some old Switch problems may persist as well, like the pervadingJoy-Con driftand the charging port’s inconvenient location. It may not be the Nintendo Switch Pro, but it may still be a console worth buying.
TheNintendo Switch OLEDconsole will be released on October 8th.
