Tyler “Ninja” Blevins plays a wide array of video games, but there’s no denying thatFortniteis what earned him his status. As Epic Games' most successful player,Ninja has beenFortnite’sposter child, without a doubt helping epic grow millions of new players. Despite the increase in players and new content, Ninja hasn’t been happy.
In the last few months, Ninja has been incredibly critical of the new season ofFortnite.Even as Chapter 2 Season 2 starts to wind down, Ninja has been increasingly vocal. Most of his criticism has stemmed fromFortnite’s lack of skill-based weapons and lack of goofy gameplay. However, Ninja’s latest complaint is about the updated map.

The new map was revealed back in December of 2019 and introduced new POIs and spy-themed gameplay. Players seemed to enjoy the new locations, butNinja isn’t having it. After playing a few minutes during a stream, Ninja complained that the game was too quiet.
[Epic Games] gotta do something about this, mid-game. So many people were being held in the storm because the zone was moving so fast and the map was so big and there was no rotation. And their fix to that was to make it like a four and a half minute storm circle close… I haven’t seen or heard a shot in five minutes.
Between the skill-based matchmaking and the quicker rounds between storm movement, Ninja was not pleased. The size of the map and the length of ground most players have to cover each round is the reason why so many make it to the final circle. This is one of the many reasons thatNinja recently stepped back from competitive gameplay.
“I miss the old POIs,” he goes on to explain, “I miss Tilted, I miss Paradise, I miss OG Risky Reels. I miss Lazy Lagoon dude. The old map is not coming back, I just miss it dude.” And he’s likely right.
This season’s map is likely to change even further once Chapter 2 Season 2 has ended. The lack of patch notes has befuddled many gamers, but players can expect a whole new third season for Chapter 2 starting June 4th. With the spy-themed gameplay currently scattered throughout the map,Epic has been hinting at major map changes. Apparently, whichever side players decide to invest in, Ghost versus Shadow factions are what will influence the changes in the map. As of now the Ghost faction remains in the lead, but no word yet on how this will change the map.
Fortniteis currently available to play now on Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
