The latest posterThe Matrix 4poster puts Reeves' Neo in the spotlight, complete with his signature trench coat and shades. Directly behind him is Moss' Trinity, whose return has caused much speculation because of the character’s death inThe Matrix Revolutions, the third chapter of the film series. Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s Morpheus is also featured on the poster, alongsidenewcomers like Jessica Henwick.

Plot details forThe Matrix 4are scarce, but the official synopsis reads, “The Matrix Resurrections is a continuation of the story established in the first Matrix film… 20 years after the first film, the franchise that helped define pop culture at the turn of the century is back for a continuation and extension of the original movie. A mind-bending new adventure with action and epic scale, it’s set in a familiar yet even more provocative world where reality is more subjective than ever and all that’s required to see the truth is to free your mind.” The poster doesn’t tell too much, which is a good thing because it gives fans a reason to watch the film. Maybe theMatrix 4will spark a brand new trilogy or potential spin-offs, so there more surprises there are, the better.

Abdul-Mateen II’s new version of Morpheushas been the biggest plot twist for fans, who aren’t sure what happened to the version played by Laurence Fishburne. The Matrix 4’s version of Morpheus is evidently younger, so he may very well be the same version as the one fans saw in the original trilogy. However, fans should leave room open for alternate possibilities.

Other returning cast members include Jada Pinkett Smith as Niobe, Lambert Wilson as The Merovingian, and Daniel Bernhardt as Agent Johnson. New cast members include Andrew Caldwell, Priyanka Chopra, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris, Ellen Hollman, Eréndira Ibarra, Toby Onwumere, Christina Ricci, Max Riemelt, and Brian J. Smith.
