The Portkey Games publishing label has so far released mobileHarry Pottergames, and so fans of the franchise have been hungry for a proper console game release.Hogwarts Legacyis set to be the first major consoleHarry Pottervideo game since the start of the Portkey Games initiative, with it originally set to launch in 2021. Unfortunately,Hogwarts Legacywas delayed, pushing the game’s release date back from 2021 to an undetermined point in 2022. And while fans still don’t know exactly when in 2022 the game will launch, the wait may not be quite as long as expected.

As pointed out by James Sigfield, someWarner Bros. Interactivejob listings suggest that the company may be gearing up for aHogwarts Legacymarketing campaign. This marketing campaign would reveal new information about the game, including possibly a release date. And ifHogwarts Legacyis truly looking to ramp up its marketing efforts in the coming months, it could be a sign that the release date will be early in 2022 as opposed to later in the year.

Since the originalHogwarts Legacyrelease window was 2021, it wouldn’t be all that surprising if the game was ready within the first half of 2022. However, there’s been virtually no gameplay footage shown and very little is known about it in an official capacity, so fans shouldn’t get their hopes up. Still, this is an encouraging sign that theHogwarts Legacyrelease date delayisn’t quite as big as previously believed.

As for when Warner Bros. may show more ofHogwarts Legacy, that remains to be seen. Reports indicated thatWarner Bros. had an E3 presentation planned for last yearwhere it was going to showcaseHogwarts Legacy, but the COVID-19 pandemic put an end to that. Maybe Warner Bros. will be looking to make a splash at this year’s E3 event, and if so,Hogwarts Legacyseems like the perfect game it can use to do so.

Little is known about this year’s E3 event, except thatE3 2021 will be all-digital. Presumably, it will feature digital presentations from various video game companies, and if so, Warner Bros. Interactive could very well be one of those companies. Again, nothing has been confirmed yet, so those looking forward toHogwarts Legacyand E3 2021 for further information.

As it stands,Hogwarts Legacyhype seems pretty high, as it’s one of the first triple-AHarry Pottervideo games ever produced. Whether or not it is able to live up to fans' lofty expectations remains to be seen, but regardless2022 should be a big year forHarry Potterfans.

Hogwarts Legacyis in development for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
