Far Cry 3is beloved by many, and often considered one of the best entries in theFar Cryfranchise. This game laid the foundation for every subsequentFar Crygame, and has since achieved a cult classic status among many in the gaming community. Now Greg Russo, lead screenwriter behind the upcoming film revival ofMortal Kombat,has expressed an interest in taking on a live-action adaptation ofFar Cry 3.
Russo has talked up theMortal Kombatfilmquite a bit on Twitter, and promises to bring all of the best elements of the franchise together into one solid experience. While there has yet to be any sort of trailer or promotional material, a number of fans are excited about the upcoming project.

When asked on Twitter if he had an interest in adapting anything from Ubisoft’s acclaimedFar Cryseries, Russo immediately responded withFar Cry 3, citing it as one of the best games ever made. Russo directed his interest at Ubisoft on Twitter, and considering aTV series based onFar Cry 3: Blood Dragonis currently in the works, a movie adaptation in the same universe may not be too far out of the realm of possibility.
In addition to adapting the game into a movie, Russo also expressed interest in bringing backMichael Mando to reprise his roll as Vaas Montenegro, considered one of the most iconic antagonists inFar Cryhistory. Nothing is confirmed or in development, this was simply Russo expressing an interest in doing a film based onFar Cry 3.
Far Cry 3has the potential to make an excellent film, given the game possesses numerous cinematic and atmospheric elements that make it memorable to many who have played it.The eighth anniversary ofFar Cry 3’sreleaseis in a little over a month, and even after two more entries have come out there are many that love the game and would likely be interested in seeing it adapted into a film.
Again, nothing is confirmed and this is little more than a hypothetical exercise. That being said, many fans of the series would likely enjoy aFar Cry 3film that featured Michael Mando returning as Vaas. Still, with the release ofFar Cry 6right around the corner,Far Cryfans have a lot to look forward to.
