Following its launch back in March, the current Switch exclusiveMonster Hunter Risehas unsurprisingly been another huge hit for Capcom. Considering it arrived to only one console,Risewent on to be the second best selling game for the month of March, pulling in impressive sales numbers. Part of the appeal with the recent games in this series are the consistent updates that Capcom makes, adding not only quality of life improvements, but new content to overcome as well.
Since launch,Monster Hunter Risehas had several updates, including new monsters to hunt like Bazelgeuse. However, a constant stream of post-launch content has been surrounding crossovers, typically with other Capcom franchises. Already, fans have seenthe arrival of Amaterasu fromOkami, Akuma fromStreet Fighter, as well as armor options fromMonster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, Capcom is next turning to the Blue Bomber for the fourth collaboration.

In a new announcement trailer, Capcom has confirmed that Mega Man’s red robot dog Rush is the next addition toMonster Hunter Rise. Starting on September 24, a new event quest will allow players to grab a special Rush layered armor set forthe player’s Palamute. The look is pulled specifically fromMega Man 11, a game the originally launched in 2018, the first mainline game in over 8 years.
While the design would probably be enough for fans of Mega Man, the Rush armor does add a few gameplay enhancements as well. The reveal trailer not only shows off Rush inside ofMonster Hunter Rise, but reveals some interesting bonuses as well. While riding on Rush, players can activate Rush Jet when performing a drift, which increases the movement speed significantly. For hard to reach places, Rush Coil can be used to spring jump up higher elevations after performing a jumping dismount.
Considering the amount of Capcom IPs available, these collaborations are likely to continue going forward. Fans have already started speculating at what Capcom could do, outside of more animal armor for the Palamute and Palico. The addition ofAkuma as a playable character complete with voice actingand special moves potentially opens the door for other characters such as Dante fromDevil May Cry, who already fits in considering his use of his sword Rebellion. With another crossover set to arrive this Fall, it’ll only be a matter of time until fans find out who’s next.
Monster Hunter Riseis now available for the Nintendo Switch. A PC port is expected to launch in early 2022.
