Some players have already discovered a way to access many ofCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s exclusive weapon camos, even though there’s no apparent way to access them at a glance. WithModern Warfare 2’s early campaign mode access now live for pre-order owners, it was only a matter of time before players uncovered bits and pieces of the game’s other, yet-unreleased multiplayer modes.
With the single-player content files forCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2now readily available for anyone and everyone to sift through, it was a given that players and dedicated data miners would quickly discover that many of the game’s files and code entries include references to multiplayer and other such gameplay modes. In a surprising turn of events, however, it would appear that some of the most interesting tidbits of multiplayer customization information are hidden in plain sight, and the community has now uncovered them in full.

Specifically, Reddit user Flex_PePPax reported that there’s more toModern Warfare 2’s campaign early accessthan might meet the eye. Even though the option isn’t highlighted or pointed out anywhere in the game, PC players can simply hit the F6 button to open up a work-in-progress version of the game’s multiplayer Gunsmith 2.0 interface, which allows them to sift through dozens upon dozens of weapon attachments, unlockable camos, and more. Curiously, even non-PC players can access this feature, but they will need to plug a keyboard into their console in order to do so.
The vast majority of content featured in Gunsmith 2.0 is still locked away, making it almost entirely inaccessible for the players. That said, accessing the UI will still allow players to preview all the game’s primary weapons as well as many of the previouslyleakedModern Warfare 2weapon camouflages. There appear to be dozens of unique camos available inMW2, with some of them providing cosmetic options that players have long been asking for. For example, there’s an entire category of solid color camouflages available, allowing players to paint their guns into all-black or tan color schemes.
Flex_PePPax’s discovery also allows players to get a better idea ofModern Warfare 2’s weapon platforms, as it would appear that the menu shows every single weapon that players will be able to use in the game’s multiplayer modes once they launch. This unfinished version of Gunsmith 2.0 does not, however, allow for weapon customization of any sort at this time, and even though the “Firing Range” option is selectable, selecting it will crash the game.
It’s curious, then, thatModern Warfare 2’s file sizeis as small as it is. On PC, the early campaign access build of the game is only about 30 GB in size, and it still appears to include at least some amount of multiplayer files in its codebase. This sits in stark contrast to its predecessor, which was widely criticized for its constantly ballooning storage space requirements that were just shy of 200 GB at one point in time.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2is set to launch on Jun 16, 2025, on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
