Still, the classics of the series are still beloved by gamers, and now they’ll soon be returning for a new generation to enjoy.
Originally expected to include 3 titles, it has now been revealed that the first volume of theMetal Gear Solid MasterCollectionwill feature 5 games, taking players from the birth of the franchise toMetal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. When it was announced, Konami informed players that it would be coming to PC, Switch, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S. Now, however, popular demand has convinced the developer to make the collection available to one console of the last generation.

In a recent tweet from the official account for theMetal Gear Solid Collection Vol 1, Konami announced that the games will also be coming to the PS4 at launch. The message explained that this was in response to pleas “received from fans worldwide.” It seems that, while lots of fans have updated to newer consoles, there are still plenty of gamers on the PS4 that want to get in on the fun.
The originalMetal Gear Solidmade its debut on the PS1 back in 1998, so it’s fitting that another PlayStation console is also being honored with a release of the new collection. Further, as theMetal Gear Solid Collectionhas an annoying issue on Steam, some players will likely be glad to see it made available on another console. While this release will be limited to digital download only, its availability at all should merit celebration from plenty of PlayStation fans.
