In addition to adding new cards,Marvel Snaphas also introduced themed variant art sets for existing cards.Spider-Man’s most popular villain Venom has a set labeled Venomized and more than a handful of cards inMarvel Snapsports variant art of what said heroes and villains would look like if corrupted by the Venom symbiote.
8Goose
Whoever came up with the concept of an alien that looks like a normal cat but has a grotesque mouth that serves as a pocket dimension needs to go to therapy. Goose is the entity in question and belongs to an alien race known as Flerken. The internet loves to look at adorable cats whenever they can, so Goose’s base art is already a win for most.
The Venomized variant art created by Eduardo Mello and colorist Ryan Kinnaird chose to lean into the unnerving aspects of both characters. Goose’s terror hole known as a mouth is now backed by a body fully embracing the Venom symbiote, taking on a striped black and white coat.

7Hellcow
Sometimes comic books can be dumb, but in that it crosses a threshold where it makes it to the other side and is once again cool. On the surface, Hellcow is a weird sentient cow who happens to have a solid card fordiscard-focused deck builds inMarvel Snap. For four energy, players get a 6-power hellish cow that discards two cards from the caster’s hand upon reveal.

Artist Joverine and colorist Ryan Kinnaird delivered a symbiotic version of Hellcoy perched on a rooftop like some sort of gargoyle that’s much more fierce and intimidating than a parasitically controlled cow has any right to look. It makes the imagination start to flow and consider what other creatures in the animal kingdom would look like if controlled by the Venom symbiote.
6Cloak
Cloak is a character in theMarveluniverse, that, despite having a very interesting set of powers, never really obtained any major popularity or spotlight. As his name would suggest, he sports a cloak that goes hand in hand with his body acting as a portal to a place known as the Darkforce Dimension.
This base gave artist Eduardo Mello and colorist Ryan Kinnaird a lot to play with in terms of what a symbiote-infected version of Cloak would look like.Marvel Snapcontinues to impress in the types of variant card arts they’re introducing, and no one expected a Venomized card featuring Cloak to be so dazzlingly original and creative.

5White Queen
A 4-cost card that allows its wielder to draw a copy of their opponent’s highest-cost card in their hand upon reveal feels pretty powerful That’s exactly what White Queen’s 6-power card does asa Pool 1 card inMarvel Snap. In-Hyuk Lee is an artist and colorist who was tasked with creating several Venomized art card variants for the game and White Queen stands as one of their best.
It keeps the regal white drapery associated with the character but imbues a haunting visage of chaos and corruption. In an ironic way, White Queen is transformed from a traditionally attractive blond woman into a monster that’s sort of hard to continue looking at.

4Hela
The Venom symbiote is iconic in its appearance and fans eagerly anticipate what other heroes and villains may look like in a state in which said symbiote takes control. On her own, Hela is an imposing figure who commands attention and respect. She’s able to create weapons out of thin air, so the addition of symbiotic enhancements feels unnecessarily overpowered.

Clayton Crain was tasked with bringing this nightmare scenario to life inMarvel Snapand absolutely delivered. At first glance, it may look as though Hela’s 6-cost card in Venomized form is just her with Venom’s face, but upon closer inspection, it becomes clear the ways in which the Venom symbiote enhanced her sharp edges.
3Deadpool
When it comes to charisma and popularity, it’s hard to find aMarvelcharacter displaying both at the levels that Deadpool does. Since he’s a meta commentator who loves to poke fun at comics and even his own existence, it’s hard to mess up art featuring the mercenary with a mouth. Artist Ron Lim and colorist Jay David Ramos chose to go over the top with the Venomized version of Deadpool, as he stands atop a street taco truck, taco in hand, ready to destroy anything in his path.
They make full use of the card space, painting a scene fitting of the 1-cost card that benefits from being destroyed while in play. As is expected with Deadpool, it’s one of several variant card arts worth pursuing inMarvel Snap, and one of the best Venomized variants hands down.

2Thor
Thor and Venom are twoclassicMarvel Comicscharactersthat have been around for a good while, so it shouldn’t be surprising that Venom once corrupted the Norse God of Thunder. That being said, its appearance wasn’t as frighteningly cool as the art Ivan Tao created for the Venomized version of Thor’s card inMarvel Snap.
He’s in a commanded and powerful stance that displays the elongated symbiote tongue as an extension of Thor’s red cape. The only downside to this variant art of the 3-cost card is that the Mjolnir card summoned when Thor is revealed is still the standard art. It’d be neat if artists like Ivan Tao had a chance to Venomize these secondary cards as well.

1Silk
Silk is a character in theSpider-Manvertical ofMarvel Comicsthat fans have wanted to see in live-action for years. InMarvel Snap, her card is a 2-cost with 5-power that comes with an interesting ability. Once she is played at a location, after any other card is played there, she moves to another location.
The Venomized card art for her adapts the symbiote in a way that feels refreshing and obtuse for someone in the Spider-Family of heroes. Artist In-Hyuk Lee displays it in a way where the symbiote is hovering off of Silk and presents as a figure similar to stands in the popular anime seriesJojo’s Bizarre Adventure.

Marvel Snapis available now for PC and mobile devices.
