Several characters are already aware Peter Parker is Spider-Man by the end of the 2018 title, but a new player theory suggests another prominent Marvel character may also be aware of this fact heading intoMarvel’s Spider-Man 2. The sequel is already set to push Peter’s personal relationships between the return of his best friend,Harry Osborn, and the influence the alien symbiote will have on the hero’s psyche over the course of the game. If this new theory turns out to be true, its possible another prominent “hunter” may have Spider-Man in their sights besides Kraven.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2picks up roughly 10 months after the events ofSpider-Man: Miles Moralesand will pit the two web-slingers against two of the deadliest enemies from the pair’s rogues gallery - Kraven the Hunter and Venom. Kraven has come to New York City to hunt the Spider-Men and some of the city’s other super-powered residents, while Venom’s role in the story is not yet clear.Spider-Man 2is also set to feature returning character Mary-Jane Watson, Yuri Watanabe, and Norman Osborn, with Norman’s son Harry also poised to have a big role.

One prominent side-character from the first game whose fate for the sequel is not quite as clear isSilver Sable, the mercenary who found herself both aligned and opposed to Spider-Man in the first game and its subsequent DLC expansions. However, Reddit user Apo51209 offers a theory on how Sable could fit into the sequel and add a new wrinkle to the fight awaiting Peter and Miles. Apo’s theory suggests that between MJ’s extended time in Sable’s home country of Symkaria, her friendship with the mercenary, and Peter’s own time in Symkaria during the events ofSpider-Man: Miles Morales, the mercenary may be aware Peter is Spider-Man by the time ofSpider-Man 2.
While Apo’s idea is still a theory at the time of this writing, it could provide an interesting wrinkle toSpider-Man 2’s narrative given Sable’s status as one of the game world’s most prominent mercenaries. On the one hand, it could mean Peter and Miles find themselves having to contend with her forces along with Kraven’s as both mercenaries compete to take down the two superheroes. That said, Sable’s friendship with MJ could make her an invaluable ally if the pair of heroes find themselves overwhelmed thanks toKraven’s forcesand the growing power of the alien symbiote.
Whether Sable makes an appearance in the game or not, Insomniac has already teased how personal the story forSpider-Man 2is going to be for the heroes. Peter is already set to face the return of his best friend along with the influence of the symbiote, while the latest trailer confirmed Miles' long-awaitedconfrontation with Mister Negative. Both heroes are going to be pushed to their limits, and players will have to wait until October to see what befalls the pair.
