Kingdom Heartshas been around since 2002, and throughout the years, there have been many trailers in each game. With any video game, content that the developers worked on was removed at some point leading to the title’s release for reasons such them coming up with a better concept or realizing that what they made doesn’t work as well as they hoped.

While most of this content was removed without fans knowing, there have been some things that were shown in trailers that didn’t make it into the game itself. Here are ten things about theKingdom Heartsgames that fans would only know by seeing the trailers.
In a trailer for the first installment of the series, there were quotes indicating that Sora would need to be saved. These quotes appeared on the screen, without being voiced by any of the characters, and read: “That’s right, Sora. Your body, your soul, your whole existence… they’re all going to disappear!”, “Come on, guys! We’ve got to save Sora!”, and “Please, Sora… Don’t go.”
Though Sora turned into a heartless towards the end of the game, it only lasted for a few minutes so it doesn’t seem that these quotes are referring to that. They are, however, very similar to current events in the series as Sora has now disappeared and his friends are trying to find a way to save him, leaving fans to wonder how long this was planned.
9Sora Was Going To Go To Disney Castle Much Earlier
Sora went to a lot of worlds in the first game, but he didn’t go to Disney Castle, the home of King Mickey, Donald, and Goofy. This world was only shown through cutscenes in which Donald learned that King Mickey left him and Goofy to find Sora, causing them to go to Traverse Town. In a trailer,Sora could have been seen at Disney Castle, which would have been very interesting to play in. Though he didn’t go there in the original title, he would inKingdom Hearts II.
8Donald Used Magic Against Himself
In the beginning ofKingdom Hearts II, Sora, Donald, and Goofy were all sleeping in pods inside of the mansion at Twilight Town. They went inside of them at the end ofChain of Memoriesand slept in them for nearly a year until Roxas woke his somebody up.
In a deleted cutscene that was only shown in a trailer, Donald and Goofy were outside of their pods. He shot blizzard magic at Goofy but it bounced back, resulting in him freezing himself. It has been a joke among fans for a long time that Donald isn’t good at using magic as he isn’t a good healer, and this scene shows that it’s true.
7Sora Fought Organization XIII At Hollow Bastion
Hollow Bastion is the name of the castle in Radiant Garden, and it looks very different depending on which game it is in. It was originally introduced in the first game as a world of its own, where a big portion of the game’s ending took place. InKingdom Hearts II, and other games, it looks completely different as it is Ansem the Wise’s castle, where he and his apprentices did their research.

In a trailer forKingdom Hearts II, Organization XIII is seen at Hollow Bastion, while it looked the way it did in the original title. Sora, Donald, and Goofy fought them, as well as some heartless. Though the trio did encounter the organization in this world, the castle looked completely different.
6The Wyverns And Behemoths Were In The 1,000 Heartless Battle
The 1,000 heartless battle is one of the best and most memorable inKingdom Hearts II, but it would have been even better if it wasn’t changed from what was shown in a trailer. Wyverns and Behemoths, two heartless that have been in the series since the first installment, were originally going to be enemies in this fight but were removed, leaving players to only attacked Armored Knights and Surveillance Robots, which are much weaker.
However, in an interview with Nomura in theKingdom Hearts IIUltimania, Nomura stated that he thought this battle might have needed to be removed, so at least players were still able to experience fighting these many heartless at once.
5The Wayfinder Trio Explored Different Areas Of Worlds They Went To
Terra, Ventus, and Aqua went to many worlds throughoutBirth by Sleep. In a trailer that was came out in 2008, Terra and Ventus were shown at the same worlds that they would travel to, but different parts of them. For example, the trio went to Radiant Garden. Here, they spent their time outside of Hollow Bastion and near Merlin’s house, while the trailers showed Terra and Ventus near The Great Maw, where the 1,000 heartless battle took place.
At Destiny Islands, the trio went to the island that players explored in the original game but in the trailers, Terra and Ventus had gone to another island that was only shown in cutscenes inKingdom Hearts II. Aqua didn’t appear in this trailer, despite being the character players controlled the most and the fact that she was already revealed to fight alongside her friends inKingdom Hearts II’s secret ending.
In the same trailer forBirth by Sleep, Terra and Ventus' interactions with Master Xehanort were very different. Despite the antagonist playing an important role in Ventus' story, as he was responsible for removing Vanitas from him and brought him to Eraqus, they didn’t speak much in the actual game.

In this trailer, however, it seems that they have a lot more conversations, especially as one of them is at Olympus Coliseum, a world based onHercules, despite Xehanort not going to most ofthe Disney worlds. It also seems that Terra was originally not manipulated by Xehanort as much as he was in the game as he cared more about helping Ventus than becoming a keyblade master.
3Ansem The Seeker Of Darkness And Xemnas Went To Traverse Town
InDream Drop Distance, Sora and Riku went to Traverse Town and met the characters fromThe World Ends With You, as well as Young Xehanort. However, when they went to Traverse Town in an early trailer of the game, they instead encountered Xehanort’s heartless and nobody.
In the second district, Riku was going to fight Ansem the Seeker of Darkness while Sora fought Xemnas. Minor details, such as the clothes that they wore, were also different than what happened in the actual game.
2Sora, Donald, And Goofy Fought Heartless At The Mysterious Tower
For half a decade, many trailers forKingdom Hearts IIIwere shown. In these trailers, each world was revealed, with one of the earliest showing Mysterious Tower, where Master Yen Sid resides. Sora, Donald, and Goofy fought heartless by using Blaster Blaze, one of the Attractions that players obtain in the game. Though the Mysterious Tower does make multiple appearances, they are only within cutscenes, rather than being a place where players can fight heartless.
1Yozora’s Friends Were Important To Verum Rex
Rather than being from a trailer, this last piece of removed content was from a demo ofKingdom Hearts IIIthat released in 2018. Players were ableto go to Toy Box, a world based on theToy Storymovies, where they learned that Rex, a dinosaur toy, was a big fan of a video game called Verum Rex. One of the newest and most mysterious characters in the series, Yozora, is the main character of Verum Rex.
When Rex the dinosaur met Sora, Donald, and Goofy in the demo, he thought that the keyblade wielder was Yozora, just as he did in the game, but also called Donald and Goofy “Magia and Aegis”, who are Yozora’s sidekicks. As Verum Rex is already one of the most interesting elements of the franchise, it’s strange that Magia and Aegis aren’t talked about in the actual game. Hopefully, fans will learn more about Verum Rex’s characters in the upcoming titles.
