Summary
Kai Cenat managed to beatElden Ring’s Malenia after over 400 deaths. The hard-earned victory lifted his spirits, placing him within arm’s reach of finally finishing his still-ongoingElden Ringmarathon.
Completing FromSoftware’s 2022 soulslike doesn’t actually require beating Malenia, who is an optional boss located in the Consecrated Snowfield, a hidden region of the Lands Between that requires quite a lot of legwork to unlock. But Kai Cenat has been quite eager to see the biggest challenges that the game has to offer ever since starting hisElden Ringmarathon broadcaston May 10, vowing he won’t stop streaming until he has beaten the RPG known for its difficulty.

Kai Cenat Screams From Joy Following 30 Hours of Dying to Malenia
The streamer got very well acquainted with that difficulty over the past week, dying over 1,600 times as of May 17. Over a quarter of those deaths happened by the hand of Malenia, who isstatistically the hardestElden Ringbossby quite a margin. Like many players, Kai Cenat found her first phase to be quite challenging, but somewhat doable. He managed to beat her Blade of Miquella form at around the 119-hour mark of the broadcast, approximately ten hours after first challenging the boss. After celebrating prematurely, much to the chat’s entertainment, he was greeted by the Goddess of Rot phase, with Malenia politely informing him he was about to “witness true horror,” which he did. This stage took him another 20 hours to beat, raising the count of his deaths by Malenia to 432, with the streamer ultimately screaming from joy after he finally managed to emerge victorious.
Making matters even more impressive is that Kai Cenat’sElden Ringmarathon has him playing FromSoftware’s hit RPG in a pretty hardcore way: without multiplayer, Spirit Ashes, or NPC summons. While NPC summons are unavailable for Malenia, the other two options have the potential to make this fight much more bearable, even if the player doesn’t get paired with anElden Ringmaster like Let Me Solo Her.

Kai Cenat’s Elden Ring Marathon Is a Huge Hit
Kai Cenat’s marathon has elicited widespread praise from Twitch users and been an overall huge hit on the platform, attracting approximately 230,000 concurrent viewers at its peak. The streamer is now fairly close to beating the game, having been going through some side content in the Capital Outskirts as of the early afternoon hours on May 17, all in preparation for his final push toward the Erdtree. He is currently level 135, still running a Dexterity-focused build.
He also made the wise choice of leveling Vigor more aggressively over the last few days, raising it to 51. That’s nine points below its soft cap, after which the player sees significantly diminished returns from their investment. Kai Cenat has hence come a long way sincecrying out of frustration from fightingElden Ring’s Red Wolf of Radagon, and is now within arm’s reach of doing something few players managed to accomplish: beating the game solo, i.e., without ever splitting any boss’s aggro.
