ThePokemonfranchise is no stranger to fan art, whether it’s drawings of the main characters like Ash Ketchum or the Pokemon from the video games both old and new. However, fan artists don’t stop at drawing Pokemon as they appear in the games or shows and tend to switch things up when making uniquePokemonfan art.
Sometimes fan artists redesign or re-imagine the various Pokemon in the franchise. Some will redesign Pokemon like Pikachu or Charizard to look more realistic, or re-imagine them with different regional forms and even add new evolution forms to them. While some artists have taken to designing characters or creatures from other fictional properties as Pokemon, just as onePokemonfan artist recently did.

The Reddit user Visible-Alfalfa made a post earlier today sharing their illustrations of what some members of the X-Men would look like if they were Pokemon. The art for each picture is made to resemble the graphics of previousPokemongames. Now, the artist doesn’t use the entire roster of X-Men, just a handful of members to design as Pokemon. The X-Men in the lineup include Professor X, Beast, Cyclops, Storm, Jean Grey, and James “Logan” Howlett, aka Wolverine, who’s getting his ownWolverinevideo game by Insomniac.
In the post, each of the X-Men is designed as a different Pokemon that the user felt was compatible with the individual mutants. The first half of the characters include Professor X redesigned asthe psychic-type Pokemon Kadabrawith his wheelchair, Beast was made into a blue Vigoroth, and Storm became an Electric/Water-type Florges. Jean Grey was designed as a Psychic-type Vulpix, Cyclops was designed as a Houndour with his costume’s colors and wearing his signature visor, while Wolverine was made into a Zangoose that very much resembles the fearsome superhero.
Each picture of the X-Men is designed like an entry from the Pokedex. So, each page lists their regional form, their Pokemon type, their physical stats, and their main ability. The pictures also have a shiny variant of the X-Men Pokemon in the bottom right corner. The general reception to the pictures has been positive with many commenters impressed with the designs of the X-Men as Pokemon, the choice to use the game graphic style, and the Pokedex entry format for the pictures.
Designing popular fictional characters as Pokemon leaves plenty of options for fresh ideas, but fan artists have also used others methods to make newPokemonfan art, such as fusion art. One fan recently made fusion fan art of the new starters inPokemon Scarlet and Violetcombined with other Pokemon. Before that, another fan artist madefusion art of the superhero Doctor Strange with Alakazam, which turned out very well. As the latest fan art shows, artists are continuing to find new and creative ways to makePokemonfan art.
