Ever since her debut in the 2008Clone Warsmovie, Ahsoka Tano has slowly become one of the most popularStar Warscharacters to date. While the character was relegated to the world of animation for many years, the one-time apprentice of legendary Jedi Anakin Skywalker finally made the jump to live-action on the second season ofThe Mandalorian. This must have been a dream come true for cosplayers. While animated characters are still a popular choice for many cosplayers, live-action versions can give the artist a more accurate template to work with, as can be seen with a cosplayers impressive Ahsoka Tano costume.
When Ahsoka Tano was first introduced, she was far from popular. Many fans dismissed her, thinking she was annoying and that the idea of Anakin having a secret padawan betweenAttack of the ClonesandRevenge of the Sith, whom no one ever mentioned, seemed outright ridiculous. However, over the years, Ahsoka creator Dave Filoni and the brilliant team of writers and animators behindStar Wars: The Clone Warswent out of their way to develop her into one of the most interesting characters that the franchise has offered. Ahsoka went from a bratty padawan to a renegade Jedi ronin, choosing to leave the order before her training was complete after she was framed for an act of terrorism (Yes, this was a children’s show).

Now, a cosplayer who goes by the nameJedimandaposted a few images of herself (courtesy of Alexandria Lee Studios) on Reddit wearing this incredible Ahsoka Tano costume. The costume, which according toJedimandatook 15-weeks to complete, is a near replica of the one worn by Ahsoka inThe Mandalorian, evenincludingher signature white lightsabers. By this point in theStar Warscanon, Ahsoka has been on the run for a while. Having barely survived the dreaded order 66, Ahsoka has remained in the shadows for decades, as is reflected by this costume. Unlike her previous costumes, Ahsoka now hides under a hooded robe so that she may remain more anonymous and disappear at any time, effectively giving her an aura of mystery onThe Mandalorian.
WhenThe Clone Warsanimated series was originally canceled, it seemed like fans might not get to see Ahsoka Tano again. However,Clone Warswas thankfully resurrected by Disneyfor an epic final season, but the character only recently made the jump to live-action with her appearance in the season 2 episode ofThe Mandalorianappropriately titledThe Jedi. For fans ofThe Clone Wars,it was awesome to see this beloved character brought to life, portrayed by actress Rosario Dawson. While the incredible work of voice actress Ashley Eckstein cannot be ignored, Dawson is a perfect fit for the character and resembles her appearance to a T.
You can check outJedimandaon Instagram and YouTube, where they have tutorials and videos showing off their work. You can expect to seemore of Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano in the future, as the character will be receiving her own spin-off series on Disney Plus.
