A new trailer has been released for the upcoming first-person adventure gameI Am Jesus Christshowcasing turning water into wine and attending the Last Supper. Development of theI Am Jesus ChristPCgame has stirred up some controversy over the past several years due to its subject matter. Yet developer SimulaM has remained steadfast in its devotion to the project, and the new trailer forI Am Jesusnow captures what true Christ gameplay will actually look like.
I Am Jesus Christfirst caused a commotion in early 2019when a cinematic trailer showed players performing miracles with glowing hands, expending a limited holy resource. That trailer ended with a first-person perspective of Christ on the crucifix, followed by his miracle resource bar being refilled upon resurrection. Many questioned whetherI Am Jesus Christwas being made with respect to the source material of the New Testament, or if it was a mocking joke.

It seems thatI Am Jesus Christis very much a reality, though. The latest trailer for the religious simulator, showcased as part of the IGN Fan Fest 2023 event, showswhatI Am Jesus Christlooks likein motion. Players tour the town of Nazareth with quest markers lining the edge of the screen. “The Awakening of Jesus” mission tasks the player with asking for the whereabouts of John the Baptist.
Most of the gameplay sequences shown in the trailer are focused on various miracles. First, it shows Christ activating his Walk On Water miracle, but that’s just one of his powers. He moves fish through the water toward a boat, turns water into wine for a wedding, raises Lazarus from the dead, heals a boy from within the child’s body, and calms a storm. All of these abilities are treated like magic spells cast from Christ’s glowing hands.
In the final section of the trailer,I Am Jesus Christshows the player attending the Last Supper. More specifically, Christ’s quest is to wash the feet of his disciples, a portion ofJohn 13:1-17 from the Bible.I Am Jesus Christpromised to capture many more such moments from Christ’s life, from his birth to his resurrection.
As for whetherI Am Jesus Christis particularly respectful of the story of Christ’s life, it isn’t clear. There’s no real indication thatI Am Jesus Christdelves into the meaning behind Christ’s actions, instead treating them like any typical quest in an RPG.
